Maximizing Returns by Investing in the Families and Children of Maine

A targeted one-day conference for business and community members of Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo, and Washington Counties to focus on issues of workforce development and retention as they relate to investing in families and children.

Goals for the Day

  • Understand how investing in early childhood relates to economic development

  • Explore how employee issues may relate to early childhood

  • Strategize ways to make children in our state ready for preschool through college and how to achieve economic growth and job creation gains from investing in children at the local level

  • Commit to putting the next generation first in order to assure future regional competitiveness and fiscal sustainability

  • What is the best way to invest charitable dollars to benefit children in your community?

The Problem

There are issues that affect employers, families, and children in the counties of Hancock, Piscataquis, Penobscot, Waldo and Washington that state budgets are unable to address.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008 will be an opportunity to learn, engage others in your region, and begin to strategize creative local solutions for issue facing families in Hancock, Piscataquis, Penobscot, Waldo and Washington Counties.
