Announcing the first annual
Fiber Maine-ia Flops and Faves Awards!
Ok, so you didn’t feel competitive or
accomplished enough to enter the Make It With Wool in Maine Contest this
year. No problem! You are still eligible for the funniest fiber
competition in America: the First Annual Fiber Maine-ia Flops and
Faves Awards! Whether you knit, spin, sew, quilt, weave, or try your
hand at any other type of fiber project, there’s a place for you here!
The only rule is that your item must be made at least partially of wool
or other natural fiber.
The categories are:
- Goofiest Socks
- Ugliest Unfinished Object
- Oldest handmade item we still wear
- Worst Sweater
- Something Sixties (remember that
itchy wool miniskirt you made in Home Ec or the psychedelic
needlepoint pillow you stitched?) and, on a more serious romantic
note,
- Wedding Ring Shawl
Bring your item to the Page Farm and Home
Museum between 10:00 and noon on Saturday, October 10. Items will be on
display until 5:00. Fiber Maine-ia Festival visitors will be invited to
cast votes for their favorites throughout the day. At 5:00 votes will be
tallied, and awards announced at the reception (everyone welcome) at
5:30 at the Page Farm and Home Museum.
