Tick ID Lab

Welcome to the UMaine Cooperative Extension Tick ID Lab

With 14 different tick species found in Maine, identification can be difficult. We offer a fast, accurate tick identification resource to get your tick identified, as soon as possible.

Location: 491 College Avenue, Orono, Maine 04473
Office hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday (closed holidays)

The Tick ID Lab does not currently test tick specimens for diseases.

On November’s ballot, a bond referendum to build a new lab would allow for in-state disease testing of tick specimens. Visit the following site to explore the ways a new Animal/Plant Disease and Insect Control Laboratory will benefit Maine:
