Equine Science 4 Kids!
June 30th, 2010Equine Science 4 Kids! is an interactive Web site for kids, developed by the Rutgers Equine Science Center. The site features “Lord Nelson,” a 37-year old American Quarter horse, who served for 22 years on the campus mounted patrol. Lord Nelson will help youth aged 10-14 learn about equine science, including
- healthcare and nutrition,
- exercise physiology, and
- horses & the environment.
Visitors to Equine Science 4 Kids! have the opportunity to e-mail their horse-related questions directly to Lord Nelson. If Lord Nelson receives the same question repeatedly, the question is added to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
Lord Nelson also has a blog, Holy Hoofprints!, which consists of “a day in the life of a horse” as it relates to science. Visitors may also join Lord Nelson’s Fan Club to receive e-mail notification of new blog entries and interactive games as they are added to the site.
