The University of Maine Cooperative Extension Water Quality office provides information to the public on protecting Maine’s water resources.
Participants in our water quality educational programs are making a difference in Maine!
Through applied research and educational programs, we work with agricultural producers, to help them improve production while reducing the potential for off-site negative environmental impacts.
We also work with citizens and lake groups to teach them how to protect the many lakes and rivers of Maine through our Watershed Stewards Program.
We provide information to citizens on private wellwater protection, and the importance of wellwater testing. Please visit our wellwater page for more information on private wells!
We work with municipalities and municipal officials, to protect water quality through the promotion of Low Impact Development. Please visit our Low Impact Development page!
We offer educators the Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) training, to encourage educators to bring water related topics into the K-12 classroom. Please visit our Project WET page!
