UMaine Extension offers workshop on growing a cut flower garden

FALMOUTH, Maine — University of Maine Cooperative Extension will host a workshop on growing a cut flower garden on Thursday, July 23 from 5:30–7 p.m. at the UMaine Gardens at Tidewater Farm in Falmouth.

UMaine Extension staff and volunteers will lead an engaging workshop on growing a cut flower garden for those new to flower gardening and those looking to expand their garden. Participants will learn how to choose flower varieties for continuous blooms and a variety of uses, plan and plant their garden, and care for it throughout the season. Topics will include succession planting, garden design considerations, tips for maintaining healthy and productive plants, and identifying flowers that grow well in Maine gardens. This workshop is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience to grow and maintain a thriving cut flower garden at home.
