UMaine Extension 4-H to host youth fly fishing day

ORLAND, Maine – University of Maine Cooperative Extension will host the 4-H Downeast Fly Fishing Day from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery, 306 Hatchery Rd., Orland. Held in partnership with Downeast Trout Unlimited, the event introduces youth to fly fishing and conservation practices.

Designed for youth ages 9–18, UMaine Extension’s special interest (SPIN) program explores environmental stewardship and the art of fly fishing. Participants will learn from local experts through presentations and gain hands-on experience in fly-tying and casting workshops.
