UMaine Extension offers workshop on nature journaling at Tidewater Farm

Falmouth, Maine — University of Maine Cooperative Extension will host a workshop exploring the art of nature journaling on Thursday, October 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at the UMaine Gardens at Tidewater Farm, 200 Presumpscot Point Road in Falmouth.

Nature journaling is a practice of slowing down and observing the natural world more closely through writing, drawing and other creative techniques. In this workshop led by artist and Master Gardener Volunteer, Deena Ball, participants will work with watercolors and colored pencils to create an informative journal page. Attendees will learn how to combine simple materials and shapes to capture what they see, create pages that trigger memories and develop a unique approach to nature journaling.

Participants will leave with practical techniques for creating a nature journal while cultivating creativity, observation skills, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

The registration fee is $15, and advance registration is required. More information and registration are available on the Nature Journaling event page. To request a reasonable accommodation, contact Pamela Hargest at pamela.hargest@maine.edu or 207.949.4524.

Participants are encouraged to bring a hardcover journal with mixed media paper, drawing implements (pencils, colored pencils, watercolors, etc.), and a camp chair.
