Positive Youth Development Mentor
Inspire Youth, Share Your Passion: Become a 4-H Mentor!
Do you love working with young people and want to make a lasting difference in your community? As a 4-H Positive Youth Development Mentor, you’ll guide youth on a journey of discovery, helping them explore new skills and interests through hands-on learning. Whether you enjoy science, art, technology, cooking, or any other passion, there’s a place for you to inspire youth and help them build confidence, creativity, and connections.
What You’ll Do:
- Communication Lead and Online Facilitator: You’ll be the lead communicator about your session with participants and help facilitate the group online.
- Collaborate with Experts: You’ll be paired with a content expert to co-design and deliver engaging workshops. Together, you’ll merge their content knowledge with youth development best practices to create meaningful learning experiences.
- Build Belonging: Create a welcoming and supportive workshop environment where every young person feels seen, valued, and encouraged.
- Flexible Scheduling: Offer a single workshop or create a short series—whatever best fits your time and interests.
- Manageable Commitment: Expect about 20 total hours for a 4–6 session series (including planning and delivery), or less for single workshops.
Benefits:
- Spark Curiosity: Help young people find their passion and discover new interests.
- Grow Your Skills: Build leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Build Community: Collaborate with other mentors and passionate volunteers.
- Make an Impact: Create learning moments that inspire confidence and curiosity in youth.
- Flexible Involvement: Choose the format and level of commitment that works best for you.
