{"id":28885,"date":"2025-03-10T15:26:37","date_gmt":"2025-03-10T19:26:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/?page_id=28885"},"modified":"2025-11-24T12:29:35","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T17:29:35","slug":"presenter-role-description","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/summer-learning\/presenter-info\/presenter-role-description\/","title":{"rendered":"Presenter Role Description"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><b><i>4-H Summer Learning Virtual Workshop Presenter <\/i><\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<h4><b>Objective<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To engage youth in high-quality youth development experiences and guide youth to explore their interests in a specific topic or skill through a hands-on, virtual 4-H experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Qualifications &amp; Skills<\/b><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Abide by volunteer <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2018\/09\/Standards-of-Behavior.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">standards of behavior<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and the University of Maine\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/socialwork\/non-discrimination-policy\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">non-discrimination statement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Enjoy working with youth and have a desire to teach youth skills related to a topic you are passionate about.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Be comfortable with (and\/or willing to learn how to) work with the Zoom platform, have access to a computer and internet.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Possess strong organizational, planning, communication, and collaboration skills.<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><b>Responsibilities<\/b><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Work in partnership with a 4-H Youth Development mentor to plan your virtual workshop.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Plan <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/4h.extension.wisc.edu\/resources\/volunteer-resources\/4-h-foundations\/experiential-learning-model\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">experiential learning<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> activities to teach targeted skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Provide a sense of belonging by creating a safe and welcoming virtual environment for all youth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Offer a virtual workshop(s) in partnership with a 4-H Youth Development mentor during the 2021 4-H Summer Learning Series.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><b>Location &amp; Audience<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All activities will be offered virtually through Zoom, or as an offline option.\u00a0 You can choose the age and number of youth based on your topic and activities. 4-H is open to youth ages 5-18.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Time Commitment<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A typical virtual summer learning experience can be a single session workshop, or a series of workshop sessions.\u00a0 In addition, volunteers can expect to commit approximately 2-3 hours preparing for each hour of a virtual workshop.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Training<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Volunteers spend time collaborating with their 4-H Youth Development mentor.
