The Maine 4-H Foundation awarded 18 scholarships to seniors during our Annual Meeting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"4-Hers<\/p>\n

Azure Dillon Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The Azure Dillon Scholarship was awarded to Robert Gonnella<\/strong>. He graduated from Old Town High School and will be attending the University of Maine in the fall to study Computer Science and Programming. He would like to eventually become an IT professional or Game Developer. Bob has been a part of Sebasticook Valley 4-H Equine Club, Shoes N Shears 4-H Club, Maine State 4-H Team. \u201cNot a day goes by that I do not use either a skill I learned in 4-H or one that was strengthened because of my involvement,\u201d states Bob about his 4-H history.<\/p>\n

Farm Credit\/Gladys E. Conant Scholarship<\/h3>\n

Gabrielle Guillemette<\/strong> was our scholarship award winner.\u00a0 She graduated from Massebesic High School and will be attending the University of Maine in the fall to study Animal Sciences. She would like to eventually become a veterinarian. Gabrielle is a member of the All Star Dairy Club and attended Citizenship Washington Focus. \u201c4-H has truly helped me become the person I am today. It has taught me many life skills that I wouldn\u2019t have been taught without my involvement I have learned better leadership, time management, record keeping, and citizenship,\u201d states Gabrielle about her 4-H history.<\/p>\n

Morna Kimball Rawcliffe Scholarship<\/h3>\n

Mikala Dwelley<\/strong> was our scholarship award winner.\u00a0 She graduated from Mount Ararat High School and will be attending the University of Maine in the fall to study Animal Science to be a veterinarian. Mikala is in the Pink Spurs 4-H club. \u201cI have become a better leader from 4-H because of the opportunities I have been given and the experiences I have gone through. Bring president of my 4-H club has opened opportunities to take over important responsibilities such as planning big events, and organizing community service activities.\u201d Mikala says about her 4-H experience.<\/p>\n

Oxton Trust Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The Oxton Trust award winner was Samantha Leighton<\/strong>. She graduated from Camden Hills High School and will be attending Eastern Maine Community College in the fall to study medical radiography. She would like to a radiologist. Samantha is a member of the 4-H Aldemere Achievers Club. \u201c\u201c4-H has shaped my life in ways that cannot be described or sometimes even seen. I have made lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and most importantly, skills that I never would have gained if it weren\u2019t for the many opportunities I have been given during my 4-H career,\u201d states Samantha about her 4-H history. The Carla and Danny Lafayette 4-H Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The recipient for the Carla and Danny Lafayette Scholarship was Kate Newman<\/strong>. Kate is graduating from Houlton High School and will be attending Gettysburg College in the fall to study Sociology. Kate has been a member of Crafty Critters and Haybalers 4-H clubs. Kate says, \u201cI am not yet certain what career path I will pursue in life, but my goal is to continue to serve my community, my country, my world, and hopefully become a 4-H Club Leader someday. I know the values and work ethic I have developed through 4-H will guide me in all of my future endeavors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oxford County Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The winner of the Oxford County Scholarship was Chelsea Bean<\/strong>. She is graduating from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School and will be attending St. Joseph\u2019s College in the fall to study Physical Education to become an Athletic Trainer. Chelsea is in the Oxford County Twisted Sticks Working Steer Club. \u201cWithout 4-H I would not have learned all of the skills that have shaped into the person I am today. I have learned to be a good leader with the skill of leadership,\u201d states Chelsea about her 4-H history.<\/p>\n

Evelyn Trotzky Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The recipient for the Evelyn Trotzky Scholarship was Nicolas Willey<\/strong>. He is graduating from Narraguagus High School and will be attending Maine Maritime Academy in the fall to study Marine Engineering Technology. He would like to eventually become a Merchant Marine. Nicolas is an independent 4-H member as well as Down East Lock and Load Shooting Sports Club. Nicolas says, \u201cGiving back to the community is important to me because it makes me a better person and makes me happy. The impact 4-H has had on me has driven me to help my community in various ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

Verna Church Witter Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The recipient of the Verna Church Witter Scholarship was Baha Ibrahim.<\/strong> He is graduating from Portland High School and will be attending Southern Maine Community College in the fall to study nursing. Baha is a member of Sustainability 4-H and has been involved with 4-H@UMaine and has been a 4-H Science Teen Helper \u201cI joined the 4-H club in 2014, very soon after I moved to the United States. I joined 4-H because I wanted to connect to my new culture and community in the United States. The 4-H club has helped me a great deal in reducing the stress I\u2019ve felt in my new life in Maine,\u201d explains about 4-H\u2019s importance to him<\/p>\n

Dr. Harold and Marion Chute Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The recipient for the Dr. Harold and Marion Chute Scholarship was Quinn Bunting<\/strong>. She is graduating from Camden Hills High School and will be attending the University of Vermont in the fall to study Animal and Veterinary Science. She would like to eventually become a veterinarian. Quinn is a member of the 4-H Aldermere Achievers. \u201cThroughout the years, 4-H has been more than just a club or organization, it has been a family who supports one another and celebrates victories as a whole. I have met not only teens and children I admire, but also caring adults, all who I aspire to be like,\u201d states Quinn about her 4-H history.<\/p>\n

Audrey and Clayton MacIntyre Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The recipient this year of the Audrey and Clayton MacIntyre Scholarship was Kaicey Conant<\/strong>. She is graduating from Dirigo High Schooland will be attending the Husson University in the fall for Physical Therapy. Kacey has been a member of All Star 4-H Dairy Club and Canton Busy Workers.\u201c \u201cWhen someone refers to it as \u2018playing with the cows,\u2019 I proudly say yes. I work hard at what I do but it seems less like work when you enjoy it so much\u2026I certainly would not trade it for the world,\u201d states Kaicey about her 4-H history.<\/p>\n

Theda Parker\/K.C. Lovejoy<\/h3>\n

This year the KC Lovejoy and Theda Parker Scholarship was awarded to Amy Umutoni<\/strong>. She is graduating from Portland High School. She plans to go into the medical field. Amy is ca member of the 4-H Community Science table and has been involved with Tech Wizards and 4-H@UMaine. \u201cThe biggest lesson that I\u2019ve learned in 4-H is to never be afraid to ask questions and that making mistakes is an opportunity for me to learn from them,\u201dstates Amy about her 4-H. \u201d<\/p>\n

Frederick E. Hutchinson 4-H Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The recipient of the Frederick E. Hutchinson 4-H Scholarship was Austin Rogers<\/strong>. He is graduating from Medomak Valley High School and will be attending the University of Maine in the fall to study mechanical engineering. Austin is an independent 4-H member and has been involved with Nature Preservers 4-H club. Austin says about 4-H, \u201c\u201cI believe that many of the projects I have completed in 4-H helped lead me in the direction of engineering. When working on my woodworking projects, I have realized that I enjoy designing what I am going to make next and solving problems along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wayne S. Rich Scholarship<\/h3>\n

This Wayne S. Rich Scholarship was awarded this year to Bailey Goss<\/strong>. She is graduating from Marshwood High School and will be attending the University of Maine in the fall to study Animal Science. She would like to eventually become a Large Animal Veterinarian. Bailey is currently a member of Mane Moxie 4-H club and Swiners Club. \u201cBeing a 4-Her and having the support of so many wonderful people that share similar interests and goals has given me a sense of belonging as well as helped give me strength in myself,\u201d states Bailey about her 4-H history.<\/p>\n

King Foundation Western Maine Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The King Foundation Western Maine Scholarship was awarded to Michaela Marden<\/strong>. She is graduating from Upper Kennebec Valley Memorial High School and will be attending the University of Southern Maine in the fall to study Social and Behavioral Sciences. She would like to become an Occupational Therapist. Michaela is a member of the Solon Pine Tree 4-H Club. \u201cThrough 4-H I feel I have gained confidence in my ability to communicate with others. A big part of leading is communicating effectively to small and large groups,\u201d states Michaela.<\/p>\n

Polstein Family Scholarship<\/h3>\n

The recipient of the Frederick E. Hutchinson 4-H Scholarship was Courtney Gordon<\/strong>. She is graduating from Mattanawcook Academy and will be attending Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the fall to study pharmacology. Courtney\u2019s 4-H career includes attending Eastern States and taking part in Horse Projects. \u201cBeing a 4-H member has taught me how important it is to give back to your community and others. But also how important it is to make goals and work as hard as possible towards those goals,\u201d states Courtney about her 4-H history.<\/p>\n

Penobscot Leader’s Association Scholarship<\/h3>\n

This scholarship was awarded this year to Paige Barnes<\/strong>. She is graduating from Hermon High School and will be attending the University of New Hampshire in the fall to study Animal Sciences. She would like to eventually become a large animal nutritionist or dairy manager. Paige has been a member of Ranchin\u2019 Round 4-H and Somethin\u2019 Cheesy. \u201cHaving been a 4-H member for 5 years, has impacted my life, shaping me into who I am today\u2014responsible, respectful, and trustworthy,\u201d states Paige about her experience with 4-H.<\/p>\n

This scholarship was awarded this year to Cierra Waters<\/strong>. She is graduating from Central High School and will be attending Eastern Maine Community College in the fall to study to become a Veterinary Technician. Cierra is a member of the Penobscot Livestock 4-H Club. \u201cWithout 4-H I don\u2019t think I would have had this strong of an interest in animals and helping other people with their animals. I truly appreciate and am thankful for my time in 4-H,\u201d states Cierra states about her 4-H experience.<\/p>\n

Waldo County Extension Association Scholarship<\/h3>\n

This scholarship was awarded this year to Ethan Jacobs<\/strong>. He was homeschooled throughout middle and high school dedicating his studies to college preparation. Ethan play soccer and baseball for Mount View High School. He will be attending the University of Maine in the fall of 2017, and hopes to move on to a career in forestry.<\/p>\n

Bahre Family Scholarships<\/h3>\n

Sadie Farrand<\/strong> was our first Bahre Family scholarship award winner.\u00a0She is graduating from Skowhegan Area High School and will be attending Thomas College in the fall to study Accounting and Political Science. She would like to eventually become a tax attorney. Sadie is currently a member of the Franklin County 4-H Dairy Club and has attended National 4-H Congress, Conference and Citizenship Washington Focus. \u201cThe biggest way this organization has shaped my life is through the skills I have acquired while being an active 4-Her. The skills I find to be to be of the greatest value are the leadership, communication and citizenship,\u201dstates Sadie about her 4-H history.<\/p>\n

Shae-Lyn Moulton<\/strong> was our scholarship award winner.\u00a0 She is graduating from Guilford Christian Academy and will be attending University of Maine Farmington in the fall to study Creative Writing. She would like to eventually become a writer or editor. Sadee has been heavily involved with 4-H clubs including Parkman Area Adventure 4-H Club, Mid Maine Minute Men Boys and Girls club, Adventure in Health Science 4-H club, and Greenville Super Science 4-H Club. \u201cVerbal, face to face communication, and academic determination are necessary skills that have served me well, I doubt that they would have developed to the extent they have without my discovering creative writing as a 4-H project,\u201d states Shae-Lyn about her 4-H involvement.<\/p>\n

Keith Jordan<\/strong> was our third Bahre Family scholarship award winner.\u00a0 He is graduating from Ellsworth High School and will be attending the Maine Maritime Academy in the fall to study Power Engineering Technology. He would like to become a renewable energy engineer. Keith has been a member of Jolly Juniors 4-H club and Lock, Stock, & Barrel. Keith says, 4-H has made me who I am today. I have used demonstrations as an opportunity to strengthen my ability to speak in public, project work to learn new skills, and leadership roles to give back to my community, club, and school.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reegan Hussey<\/strong> was our fourth Bahre Family scholarship award winner.\u00a0 She is graduating from Cheverus High School and will be attending the Saint Anselm College in the fall to study Biology. She would like to eventually become a veterinarian. Reegan is a member of the Serene Caprines Dairy Goat Club as well as being an independent member. Reegan says, \u201cBut above all else, I owe 4-H. Without the experiences and people that it brought to me, I would not have been able to find the path that I am now on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shaynen Schofield<\/strong> was one of our scholarship award winners.\u00a0 He is graduating from Mount View High School and will be attending Thomas College in the fall to study Physical Education. He would like to eventually become an Athletic Trainer. Shaynen is member of the Little Beavers 4-H Club and has attended National 4-H Congress and Conference. \u201cI\u2019ve learned a great deal about myself from 4-H. The harder your work the more you get out of it and the more challenging things become,\u201d states Shaynen about his 4-H history.<\/p>\n

Hannah Moore<\/strong> was one of our scholarship award winners.\u00a0She is graduating from Marshwood High School and will be attending York County Community College in the fall to study nursing. She would like to become a pediatric nurse. Hannah is member of the Mane Moxie 4-H Club. \u201cI developed a lot of leadership skills while I was at CWF. I learned to be a leader not a follower, but most importantly, I learned to be my own leader,\u201d states Hannah about her 4-H history<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
