Azure Dillon Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

One of our valued awards has been the Azure Dillon Scholarship. Azure was an outstanding<\/em> member of University of Maine Cooperative Extension Penobscot County 4-H, where she was admired and respected for her leadership, enthusiasm, determination, and knowledge of animal husbandry. She raised a large flock of Southdown sheep on Silver Mist Farm in Exeter. Azure traveled throughout the state of Maine exhibiting her flock at numerous summer fairs ending with Fryeburg Fair in the fall. Azure served as Secretary of her club for several years, was a member of the Maine 4-H Teen Council, a member of the New England Teen Council, as well as a member of the Penobscot County Teen Facilitator\u2019s Council. The Maine 4-H Foundation is honored to award the Azure Dillon Scholarship to Mikaila Loughlin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition, Mikaila will receive the Washington County Jeremy Strater Scholarship.<\/p>\n

\"MikailaMikaila Loughlin<\/strong> is from Beddington and is homeschooled through Washington Academy. Mikaila is Valedictorian of her class, Vice President of the National Honor Society, a captain on the soccer team, Dirigo Girls State representative, actively involved in volunteering and organizing the Washington Academy Prom Dress Boutique and a student tutor. Her 4-H involvement includes participating in CWF, 4-H Tech Changemakers, 4-H Public Speaking Tournament and Eastern States. Mikaila has been accepted to George Washington University with plans to major in psychology and sociology and, eventually, law school. A quote from Mikaila reads, \u201c4-H public speaking has opened countless doors for me through the years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nancy L Arms \u201884, Chadwick C. and Barbara Arms 4-H Scholarship Fund<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nancy Arms grew up in the Maine 4-H program and rose to the Junior Leadership level in the UMaine Extension Kennebec County 4-H program. Daughter of Chadwick, UMaine Extension Professor Emeritus, and Barbara Arms, dedicated 4-H volunteer leader.\u00a0Barbara and Chad started and lead a 4-H club that expanded to many members with the help and collaboration of neighborhood assistant leaders.\u00a0 The club did a lot for the community and contributed to the growth of the many youth who participated.\u00a0\u00a0 Nancy graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maine College of Arts and Sciences majoring in computer science, and was part of the Maine delegation to the 1979 National 4-H Congress.<\/p>\n

The Frederick E. Hutchinson Memorial 4-H Scholarship Fund<\/strong> was created in celebration of Dr. Hutchinson’s dedication to the University of Maine and its 4-H youth development program. Dr. Hutchinson earned bachelor and master\u2019s degrees from the University of Maine, while benefiting from scholarship assistance facilitated by a UMaine Extension 4-H agent. After several high-level land-grant appointments, Dr. Hutchinson was appointed President of the University of Maine in April, 1992, and served until his retirement in 1997.<\/p>\n

We are pleased to award these scholarships to Natalie Domin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"NatalieNatalie Domin<\/strong> is from Freeport and attending Freeport High School.\u00a0 She is currently an honor student and member of the National Honor Society.\u00a0 Natalie is involved in the High School Helper program, volunteers at the Good Shepherd Food Bank, makes blankets for nursing homes, and has raised 90 chickens for meat in support of local food pantries.\u00a0 Her 4-H activities include being a member in the Junior Leaders of Cumberland County, Cumberland County Sheep Club, Tails and Trails Equine club, 4-H Mini Forum, 4-H Teen Council, CWF, Agri-Science Summit, National 4-H Conference and ESE.\u00a0 She has been accepted to the University of Maine and is interested in studying animal science\/veterinary science. A quote from Natalie reads \u201c4-H has helped me develop my teamwork, work ethic, and time management skills.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doris Roberts, H. Lawrence, George and Barbara Lawrence Humphrey 4-H Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Doris Roberts, H. Lawrence, and George and Barbara Lawrence Humphrey 4-H Scholarship Endowment was established in 2005 with a gift donated in their memory by Ms. Gene Humphrey of Gray, Maine. The Humphrey family has a long history with 4-H youth development education and farming in Maine. The family had an active farm in Gray, and continues to support 4-H beef farming on the property today in partnership with the Gallagher family and farm. The scholarship recognizes outstanding 4-H members who plan to attend a school within the University of Maine System. The Maine 4-H Foundation is pleased to award the scholarship to Isabella West<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"IsabellaIsabella West<\/strong> of Bowdoinham attends Mt. Ararat High School and is a member of the National Honor Society and captain of the softball team.\u00a0 She has volunteered for Beacon Hospice and Horse Rescue Stable.\u00a0 She has been in 4-H for four years and is the Secretary of MidCoast Mainers 4-H Club. Bella\u2019s 4-H projects have included horse and wildlife.\u00a0 In the wildlife project, she assisted Maine biologists in collecting data on moose calves.\u00a0 Bella earned membership to the Top 100 Club in Androscoggin\/ Sagadahoc Counties for 4-H\u2019ers with exemplary project records. \u00a0Bella has been accepted to the University of Maine and plans to major in wildlife ecology.\u00a0 Bella says this about 4-H, \u201c4-H has heavily influenced who I am as a person and has pushed me to strive to do my best while reaching my goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bahre Family Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Bob Bahre grew up as a 4-H member in Canton raising 4-H steers and showing his animals in Connecticut. The Bahre family has been very supportive of 4-H, especially in Oxford County and Western Maine. They helped initiate a 4-H Beef Trust Fund over 20 years ago that is still working today to support 4-H members. The Bahre family is honored to provide support for 4-H scholarships. They have worked hard to support students\u2019 higher aspirations and believe in investing in our youth. Since 2015, they have continued to sponsor the Maine 4-H Foundation. The Bahre Family Scholarship is proudly presented to Jordyn Maloy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"JordynJordyn Maloy<\/strong> is from Lisbon Falls and is attending Lisbon High School.\u00a0 She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the National Technical Honor Society, is on the prom committee, the student voice committee, yearbook committee and is a student tutor.\u00a0 Jordyn has been involved in many 4-H activities such as the 4-H Healthy Living Summit, Tie-dye for Troops, grilled cheese challenge and how to make healthy eating fun.\u00a0 Jordyn has been accepted to the University of Findlay. She is planning on studying equine business management and western riding. A quote from Jordyn reads \u201c4-H gives me the knowledge, preparation and skills I need to go further and accomplish greater things.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Audrey and Clayton MacIntyre Scholarship, established by their daughter Jane MacIntyre Kirkland <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Audrey MacIntyre of North Bridgton, Maine, and the late Clayton MacIntyre have been long-time supporters of 4-H in Maine, recognizing the importance of supporting our Maine youth as they go on to higher education. The MacIntyre family has been vested in all levels of education and supporting local Maine youth through the Maine 4-H Foundation. The scholarship was created by their daughter, Jane MacIntyre Kirkland, in honor of her parents. The Maine 4-H Foundation is proud to award the MacIntyre Scholarship to Sophie Poirier.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"SophieSophie Poirier<\/strong> is from Scarborough and attends Scarborough High School. She is in the top 10 percent of her class, a member of the National Honor Society, co-founder of Scarborough High School\u2019s March for Our Lives chapter, a Model UN member who attended the Maine UN Conference, is fluent in French, a Key Club member, and participates in Seeds of Peace. She is a youth ambassador for the Jockey Club\u2019s Thoroughbred Incentive Program. Sophie has been a 4-H member for nine years. She is the Vice President of the Wild Manes 4-H Club, a five-year member of the Maine 4-H Eastern States Equestrian Team, Team Captain of the Maine 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl, attended National 4-H Congress and CWF, and was a 4-H Summer of Science Teen Teacher. At ESE, Sophie won several awards including the Top Knowledge Test Score, Overall Equitation Champion and Champion Hunt Seat Rider. Sophie has been accepted to American University where she plans to major in data science and political science.\u00a0 Sophie said this about her 4-H experience, \u201cThe confidence, courage, and leadership skills I have gained through my experience in 4-H are something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Harold and Marion Chute Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Marion and the late Dr. Harold Chute have been long-time supporters of the Maine 4-H Foundation. Originally from Nova Scotia, both Marion and Harold love animals, and are committed to 4-H and family. Raising three children, Marion continues today to be very involved in the lives of her family and two grandchildren. Harold was past president, past treasurer and trustee of the Maine 4-H Foundation, and was elected as an Honorary Member of the University of Maine Foundation.\u00a0 As a member of the Maine 4-H Foundation, Harold was dedicated to the solid financial management of the investments. He worked hard to have the funds grow to support as many young people in 4-H as possible. It is the honor of the Maine 4-H Foundation to award the Marion and Harold Chute Scholarship to Loyde Vumpa.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"LoydeLoyde Vumpa<\/strong> is from Portland and is attending Portland High School. Loyde has previously lived in Namibia, Angola and South Africa, and is the President of the Keystone Club and the Boys and Girls Club. Her 4-H activities include being a 4-H Teen Teacher, 4-H Environmental Science Project participant, a 4-H summer camp STEM teacher and PHS 4-H Club member. Loyde has been accepted to Morgan State University where she plans on studying biology and pre-med to become a surgeon or physician. A quote from Loyde reads, \u201cI think that 4-H has taught me how different people can come together for a bigger goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Carla and Danny Lafayette 4-H Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Carla and Danny Lafayette have a tremendous history of supporting the Maine 4-H Foundation and the University of Maine. Together they have supported new initiatives including science and engineering and the aspirations of amazing 4-H members across Maine. Carla has been President and a board member of the Maine 4-H Foundation for many years and is passionate about the education and success of young people today. Carla and Danny began the Lafayette 4-H STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Endowment in 2013.\u00a0 This scholarship is donated with support from Lafayette Hotels and Resorts. The Maine 4-H Foundation proudly presents the Carla and Danny Lafayette scholarship to honor their outstanding support of the Maine 4-H Foundation, and to recognize a truly outstanding 4-H member, Zakary St. Germain.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ZakaryZakary St. Germain<\/strong> lives in Winthrop and attends Winthrop High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a representative of Boys State. He was a captain of the cross-country team and participated in track and field. In 2019 Zakary earned the Eagle Scout Award, the highest possible within the Boy Scouts of America. He was an attendee of the National Student Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. Zakary has been in 4-H for 10 years and is a member of the Fun 4-H Club. He attended 4-H@UMaine and the 4-H Camp and Learning Center at Bryant Pond. His 4-H club projects included honoring veterans by placing and picking up wreaths at the Veterans\u2019 Cemetery and greeting Honor Flights at Portland International Jetport. Zakary has been accepted to Maine Maritime Academy and plans to major in engineering. Zakary states, \u201cThe biggest thing I learned was how to be kind to others and my environment, and how to be a leader in my community and in my world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Tabitha and Stephen King Foundation and Wayne Rich Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In 2016, the Tabitha and Stephen King Foundation, working through the Barking Dog Foundation, awarded a new fund with the Maine 4-H Foundation designed to support young people from western Maine and\/or in the 4-H Youth Development program. Wayne Rich was a 4-H club agent with Cooperative Extension in both Maine and New Hampshire. Originally from Maine, he relocated to New Hampshire where he was a prominent supporter of 4-H youth development and leadership. He was a member of the Charles F. Allen Society, Pine Tree 4-H Foundation Board of Directors and President, Class of 1934. The Maine 4-H Foundation is proud to award this scholarship to
\nBailey Cloutier.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"BaileyBailey Cloutier<\/strong> is from Litchfield and attends Mt. Ararat High School.\u00a0 She is a member of the National Honor Society and Mt. Ararat Interact Club.\u00a0 She organized the Empty Bowls Project Dinner that raised thousands of dollars for the Midcoast Hunger Prevention Program and was project manager for the Cram the Van fundraiser for her local food pantry.\u00a0 She is also skilled in unicycling.\u00a0 Bailey has been in 4-H for 10 years and is currently the treasurer for the Midcoast Mainers 4-H Club.\u00a0 She has been a teen leader and rider at ESE for four years, selected to attend the 2018 National 4-H Healthy Living Summit and was a recipient of the 2019 Exceptional Accomplishment through 4-H Award in Androscoggin\/Sagadahoc Counties.\u00a0 Bailey has been accepted to the University of New Hampshire and plans to major in early childhood education with the goal of becoming an elementary school teacher. In this quote from Bailey about 4-H, she says \u201cOne of the best things about 4-H is, it teaches kids to create goals for themselves and then gives support and constant encouragement to achieve them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oxton Trust<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Oxton Trust Scholarship recognizes a young person from Knox or Lincoln County. The scholarship is based on academic achievement and outstanding 4-H involvement throughout the county 4-H program. We would like to thank the Oxton Trust and local county volunteers who help make the selection of our worthy 4-H member. The Maine 4-H Foundation is proud to recognize Anthony Benson.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"AnthonyAnthony Benson<\/strong> lives in Rockport and attends Camden Hills High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He volunteers for Camden Community Breakfast and the Aldermere Farm Visitors Center. Anthony has been in 4-H for three years and serves as the Treasurer of the Aldermere Achievers 4-H Club. In 4-H, he has participated in public speaking, and state and national fairs including the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. He plans to major in anthropology at Dickinson College with the goal of becoming an archeologist. Anthony says, \u201cJoining 4-H has had such a major impact on my life! I have learned about the value of hard work, keeping commitments, working together as a team and setting goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morna Kimball Rawcliffe Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our next scholarship is in memory of Morna Kimball Rawcliffe. Morna truly embraced a youthful spirit and sense of adventure. She loved the outdoors and taught her children to swim, dive, paddle, row, ski, skate, light campfires, make lean-tos, and generally fostered a love of the outdoors at Swan Lake. She graduated as Salutatorian from Hampden Academy, graduating from the University of Maine in 1948. As the first women’s physical education teacher at Hampden Academy, she coached basketball and developed and coached field hockey, gymnastics, volleyball, and track programs. At UMaine, where she truly excelled in athletics, Morna was an All-Maine basketball and All-Maine field hockey player. She also excelled at volleyball, tumbling and modern dance. The Maine 4-H Foundation is honored to award the Morna Rawcliffe scholarship in her memory and in recognition of her family, Carla and Danny Lafayette, to Megan Josephs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"MeganMegan Josephs<\/strong> is from Yarmouth and is attending Falmouth High School.\u00a0 She is currently a student teacher in a preschool with 15 four-year-old children as well as being involved with preschoolers, toddlers and infants. Megan\u2019s 4-H activities include attending ESE, being the president of the Brass Knobs Working Steer Club, attending the Fryeburg Fair, New England Ox Teamsters Association, and the Windsor Fair. She has been accepted to the University of Maine at Farmington and will be studying early childhood and special needs. A quote from Megan reads, \u201c4-H has been my whole world for the past six years. It has developed me into someone I never thought I could be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gene Doris Humphrey Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Gene Doris Humphrey of Gray, Maine, has a long family history with 4-H and agriculture in Maine. As a retired professor and teacher in the field of mathematics, she is passionate about helping students\u00a0 excel in the STEM fields. Gene is a very talented piano player and musician, playing the music that has accompanied our 2020 scholarship presentation video. The scholarship recognizes students attending either the University of Southern Maine or the University of Maine. Both universities are an important part of Gene\u2019s professional career and educational success. Gene studied computer programming at UMaine and, after graduating, she became a pioneering teacher in South Portland where she helped initiate\u00a0the very first \u201cComputer on Wheels\u201d program in partnership with USM and Dartmouth College. Ultimately, this program helped Maine students keep pace with the world of technology.\u00a0The Maine 4-H Foundation is proud to award the Gene Doris Humphrey Scholarship to Marwo Sougue<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"MarwoMarwo Sougue<\/strong> is from Westbrook and is attending Portland High School. She is interested in volunteering, reading, writing, organizing, helping others and likes going outside to do something productive. Marwo\u2019s 4-H activities include the 4-H True Leaders in Equity program, being an Honorary Page in the Maine House of Representatives, the 4-H Teen Teacher Program, the Ronald McDonald 4-H Service Project and CWF. Marwo has been accepted to the University of Southern Maine.\u00a0 She is interested in studying biology and psychology and would like to become a nurse. A quote from Marwo reads, \u201c4-H has positively impacted my future goals of becoming a nurse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oxton Trust<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Oxton Trust Scholarship committee has decided to award two scholarships in 2020. The 4-H committee would like to recognize our amazing young people from Knox and Lincoln Counties. We would like to thank the Oxton Trust and local county volunteers who help make the selection of our worthy 4-H members. The Maine 4-H Foundation is proud to recognize Elizabeth Eaton.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ElizabethElizabeth Eaton<\/strong> lives in Hope and attends Camden Hills Regional High School. She is an Aldermere Farm Hands leader; a member of many livestock associations, including Maine Beef Producers, where she received the 2019 MBP Outstanding Youth Award; and volunteers for the Hope Fire Department fundraisers. She has a special love of Belted Galloway cattle. Elizabeth has been in 4-H for six years and serves as President of the Aldermere Achievers 4-H Club. Highlights from Elizabeth\u2019s 4-H career include participation in public speaking; being a member of the Maine 4-H Beef Team; and success showing at several Maine fairs, ESE, and the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky, where she won first place in the early summer yearling division. She was also a recipient of the Knox-Lincoln Counties 4-H Character Award. Elizabeth has been accepted to Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute where she plans to study animal sciences to become a veterinarian. Elizabeth says this about 4-H, \u201c4-H has helped me become the person I am today, and I am grateful for the opportunities that I have had through 4-H.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 4-H Agricultural Threshold of Maine Resource, Conservation and Development<\/strong> Scholarship<\/strong> began in 2018. Threshold of Maine has had a valued connection to Maine 4-H and the agricultural community in Maine. In addition, their dedication has included support and volunteer efforts with agricultural programs. The fund was established to further promote agricultural education in Maine through 4-H and encourages the fund\u2019s growth through additional donations and sponsors. Claude Clement was a longtime supporter of Maine 4-H and the Maine 4-H Foundation. The Maine 4-H Foundation is proud to recognize Rachael Wiest<\/strong> for the Threshold of Maine and Claude Clement Scholarship.<\/p>\n

\"RachelRachel Wiest<\/strong> is from Freeport and is attending Freeport High School. She is currently working at a general store for pets, working with children at a preschool, and also housesits while caring for the owner\u2019s pets. She has raised 90 chickens for meat in support of local food pantries. Rachel\u2019s 4-H activities include being a member of the Cumberland County 4-H Sheep Club, Tails and Trails Equine Club, 4-H Mini Forum, Agri-Science Summit Team, National 4-H Conference and ESE. She has been accepted to the University of Maine at Farmington and is interested in studying elementary education. A quote from Rachel reads, \u201cLooking back at my six years in 4-H with all of the memories and experiences it has created, and all of the life skills I have learned. I am positive they will carry me through life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maine 4-H Foundation and Penobscot County Scholarship <\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Maine 4-H Foundation is pleased to honor outstanding 4-H members in partnership with their county 4-H program with a higher education scholarship. Penobscot County has supported many of their local 4-H members for the past five years in recognition of their many dedicated volunteers. The Maine 4-H Foundation is proud to honor Paige Robinson<\/strong> with a Penobscot County Scholarship.<\/p>\n

\"PaigePaige Robertson<\/strong> lives in Eddington and attends Brewer High School where she participates in cheerleading. She is learning sign language and has become a teacher\u2019s assistant for beginners. Paige has been involved in 4-H for six years and currently serves as the President of the Shoes N\u2019 Shears 4-H Club. She has participated in public speaking and 4-H@UMaine.\u00a0 Paige often participates in 4-H community service projects including petting zoos and preparing care baskets for homeless individuals. Paige is a recipient of the Donald Dorr 4-H Livestock Project Award. Paige has been accepted to Husson University where she plans to study forensic science for a career as a DNA Analyst. Paige says this about 4-H, \u201c4-H has allowed me to be myself. 4-H has given me a new outlook on life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bahre Family Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Bahre family from Paris, Maine, are honored to provide support for 4-H scholarships. They have worked hard to support students higher aspirations and believe in investing in our Maine youth. The Maine 4-H Foundation is pleased to award this 2020 scholarship to Eugene Lindsey.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"EugeneEugene Lindsey<\/strong> of Winthrop attends Spruce Mountain High School and Foster Technical School. He is the team captain for the cross-country and Nordic skiing team and is, also, a junior fire fighter with the Winthrop Fire Department. In 2019 he received the Boy Scouts of America\u2019s highest honor, the Eagle Scout Award. Eugene has been a 4-H member for 11 years with the Fun 4-H Club. He has participated in CWF, Maine 4-H Days, was a recipient of the 4-H Pitch Your Idea Grant and attended 4-H Camp and Learning Centers at Bryant Pond and Tanglewood. He has, also, participated in many 4-H community service projects including putting flags up at the Veterans\u2019 Cemetery and filling backpacks for Operation Military Kids. Eugene has been accepted to Southern Maine Community College and plans to study fire science for his career as a firefighter and EMT. He says this about his 4-H experience, \u201cThe biggest thing that being a long-time 4-H member has instilled in me is the desire and compassion to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Theda Parker and K.C. Lovejoy Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Theda Parker was a generous supporter of 4-H who, along with K.C. Lovejoy, made a bequest to the Foundation to support its future. K.C. was one of three original 4-H agents in Maine and served as
\n4-H State Leader for almost 30 years. Upon retirement, he became a tremendous supporter of the Pine Tree 4-H Club Foundation, traveling the state to raise funds to promote 4-H and ensure its long-term support. He received many awards for his service, including the Outstanding Citizen for the State of Maine, Agricultural Person of the Year and, in 1977, received the Black Bear Award from the University of Maine Alumni Association.<\/p>\n

The Theda Parker and K.C. Lovejoy Scholarship is awarded to Jamal Moriba.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"JamalJamal Moriba<\/strong> is from Portland, Maine, and is attending Portland High School.\u00a0 He is a captain on the football team and has participated in many 4-H activities such as 4-H Summer of Science, CHEETA Teen Leader, 4-H Teen Teachers, 4-H Healthy Living Summit, Front Street 4-H Club and the 4-H Gardening Program.\u00a0 Jamal has been accepted to UNE and is still deciding on his field of study.\u00a0 A quote from Jamal reads, \u201cI can say without a doubt that 4-H helped me become who I am today\u201d.\u00a0 This quote from his 4-H youth educator states, \u201cJamal is quiet and humble in his leadership. \u00a0My hope is that Jamal will continue to be part of our 4-H Community long after he graduates from college.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Verna Witter and Maine 4-H Foundation Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Verna Witter was a strong supporter of 4-H and the Maine 4-H Foundation. She believed in community and civic responsibility. She dedicated her community work to 4-H and UMaine Extension. She was a board member and secretary of the Maine 4-H Foundation. The Maine 4-H Foundation is honored to award the Verna Witter Scholarship to Gabrielle Huettner.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"GabrielleGabrielle Huettner<\/strong> is from Monson and is homeschooled through the Dover Christian Academy. She is a Junior Deacon at Union Evangelical Church and is a volunteer at the Moosehead Chamber of Commerce Chocolate Festival. She has attended CWF, is VOLT-certified, was a 4-H Teen Leader at 4-H@UMaine, has been an Honorary Page at the Maine House of Representatives, and participated in mission work in Ghana.\u00a0 She would like to study forest management at Kennebec Valley Community College with plans of becoming a forester or forest firefighter. A quote from Gabrielle reads, \u201c4-H has helped me come out of my shell, it has helped me learn and work on public speaking, communication and teamwork.\u201d<\/p>\n

Farm Credit and the Gladys E. Conant Oxford County Scholarship <\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Farm Credit of Maine Scholarship is awarded to a Maine 4-H\u2019er planning to continue their post-secondary education at a Maine institution and whose objective is to major in a field related to commercial farming, fishing, or forest products, or in another field with the intent of working in businesses related to these industries. Gladys Conant was a dedicated volunteer for over 60 years in Oxford County. She was passionate about helping young people reach higher aspirations and reached out to every child in the Canton Community.\u00a0The Maine 4-H Foundation is honored to award the Farm Credit and Gladys E. Conant Oxford County Scholarship to Christopher DuBois<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"ChristopherChristopher DuBois<\/strong> is from West Poland and attends Poland Regional High School.\u00a0 He has excelled as a student athlete in football and golf. He has a passion for harness racing and is a trainer at Kilgore Track where, last summer, he had five wins with his horse, Baywood Shadow. He has also raced at Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey. Christopher has been a 4-H member for fourteen years and currently serves as the President of his club.\u00a0 His 4-H club experience has centered on veterinary sciences; and raising, training and showing animals.\u00a0 He has been a leader at the June Jamboree Livestock Clinic, participated in numerous fairs and the Big E, attended Bryant Pond 4-H Camp and Learning Center and Maine 4-H Days. He was recognized with Oxford County\u2019s Outstanding 4-H Member Award. Christopher has applied to Heartland Horseshoeing School, Meredith Manor Equine School, Mission Farrier School, Pennsylvania Institute, E.L.P.O. Farrier School and Western Maine Community College. He plans to become an equine farrier.
