ME-FRSAN’s affiliate, the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network of the Northeast (FRSAN-NE) is now Cultivemos!<\/h2>\n

Farm Stress and Wellness:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Across the country, farming and ranching is one of the jobs with the highest suicide rates. Due to the unique barriers, issues, and a lack of accessible mental stress resources, many farmers find themselves and their wellbeing in crisis. Rising production expenses, falling farm income levels, hastening climate disruption, and now the crisis sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic have dramatically impacted farmers, farmworkers, and farm production.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 2018 Farm Bill, the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network (FRSAN) was set up to create a service provider network that serves farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural workers. The United States Department of Agriculture awarded grants to establish networks across four regions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Northeast, the funds were received by National Young Farmers Coalition (Young Farmers), Farm Aid, Farm First, University of Maine Cooperative Extension (UMaine Extension), Migrant Clinicians Network (MCN), and the Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust (NEFOC). We work with service providers across the region to reduce stress, increase wellness, and overall improve mental health for farmers, focusing on BIPOC farmers, Latinx farmworkers, & young farmers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Introducing Cultivemos:<\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

Our earlier name was Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network – Northeast (FRSAN-NE) and we were made to support Northeastern farmers. Now we\u2019re Cultivemos, a community call to cultivate mental health and well-being together. To bring language justice and inclusivity to the table, we were intentional with Spanish-led language because these resources are made for every agricultural worker, no matter their background.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The goal of Cultivemos is to offer support and to uplift the farming community, while also reminding people that the fresh produce and veggies on their tables didn\u2019t just come from a farm\u2014it came from a farmer. By spotlighting, celebrating, and supporting the people behind our food, we\u2019re elevating the farming community, helping to further improve both their emotional health and their financial well-being.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A well-tended farmer is just as important as a well tended farm. With that, Cultivemos is the network that cares about your well-being, care and support.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

En todo el pa\u00eds, la agricultura y la ganader\u00eda es uno de los trabajos con mayor \u00edndice de suicidio. Debido a las barreras y problemas \u00fanicos, y a la falta de recursos accesibles para el estr\u00e9s mental, muchos agricultores se encuentran a s\u00ed mismos y a su bienestar en crisis. El aumento de los gastos de producci\u00f3n, el descenso de los niveles de ingresos agr\u00edcolas, la aceleraci\u00f3n de los trastornos clim\u00e1ticos y, ahora, la crisis provocada por la pandemia de COVID-19 han afectado de forma profunda a les agricultores, a les trabajadores agr\u00edcolas y a la producci\u00f3n agr\u00edcola.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

En la Ley Agr\u00edcola de 2018, se estableci\u00f3 la Red de Asistencia al Estr\u00e9s en Fincas y Ranchos (FRSAN) para crear una red de proveedores de servicios que atienden a los agricultores, ganaderos y otres trabajadores agr\u00edcolas. El Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos concedi\u00f3 subvenciones para establecer redes en cuatro regiones.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

En el noreste, los fondos fueron recibidos por la Coalici\u00f3n Nacional de J\u00f3venes Agricultores (Young Farmers), Farm Aid, Farm First, la Extensi\u00f3n Cooperativa de la Universidad de Maine (UMaine Extension), La Red de Proveedores de Servicios de Salud para Migrantes (MCN) y el Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust (NEFOC).
