These short-term programs, led by staff and\/or volunteers, support youth learning a selected topic or skill of interest. SPIN clubs meet for a specific amount of time (usually 4-6 sessions).\u00a0 Topics vary according to the volunteer or staff\u2019s expertise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Past topics include: the natural world, leadership development, STEM, photography, gardening, and more! These clubs are becoming increasingly popular as they tend to accommodate busy family schedules and target youth interests. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Full 4-H membership is not required to participate in these short-term programs, although full membership provides eligiblity to participate in any county, state, and nationwide 4-H events throughout the year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These special interest programs can be held in locations such as afterschool programs, community centers, area organizations, and the Extension Office.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Virtual Learning Hub<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/virtual-learning-hub\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maine 4-H Virtual Learning<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is a hands-on, virtual learning program for youth ages 5-18. Workshops are organized by age and topic. Topics include engineering, science, animals and agriculture, teen leadership, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Workshops range from single-time events to SPIN programs (typically four to six sessions). Participants will engage in hands-on activities, and interact with other 4-Hers and positive adult role models.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No prior experience with 4-H is required to participate. This is a great way for those who are interested to learn more about 4-H.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Independent 4-H Membership<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Independent 4-H members are typically working on a 4-H project at home, at school, or after school with the support of parents\/guardian and\/or a 4-H Volunteer. This option offers flexibility and independence, while Independent members are eligible to participate in any county, state, and nationwide 4-H events throughout the year as listed above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Independent membership is a great choice for youth who do not have the option to join a club (due to distance, interest, etc.) but who still want to complete a 4-H project and participate in county and statewide 4-H events and programs. See more details below.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><a id=\"learn-more\"><\/a>Camp and Learning Centers<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are four <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/camps\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">4-H Camp &amp; Learning Centers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in Maine: Bryant Pond, Tanglewood, Blueberry Cove, and Greenland Point. Camp is open to all youth. Local scholarships are available for enrolled 4-H members to attend.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Volunteer<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a id=\"enroll\"><\/a>If interested in sharing your passion for a topic or skill, consider volunteering with 4-H! This flexible option is perfect if there isn&#8217;t a club nearby, you have unique interests, or you prefer a self-directed learning approach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You will work on projects with guidance from a parent, guardian, or an approved adult advisor, and directly with the county office. Independent members have access to all 4-H activities, events and opportunities they qualify for. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Contact the office today for more details and enrollment information.
