Gleaning<\/strong> is an ancient tradition still practiced in Androscoggin and Sagadahoc Counties and elsewhere. After farmers or fruit growers have harvested their crop, they allow people into their fields or orchards to gather the fruit that they did not harvest.<\/p>\n

Several Androscoggin and Sagadahoc Counties farmers and fruit growers have agreed to support\u00a0Maine Harvest for Hunger\u00a0by contacting the UMaine Extension Androscoggin and Sagadahoc Counties office when they have an opportunity for\u00a0Maine Harvest for Hunger participants to come to gather the remaining, unharvested produce that will then be donated to local food pantries.<\/p>\n
