Alternative Services, Northeast, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting two populations of adults: people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and individuals with mental illness through residential, case management, and in-home support programs.<\/p>\n

Each spring we gather consumers from our residential homes to plant seedlings for the gardens we put in place at each of the homes. We love the idea of teaching the consumers on how to grow their own food.<\/p>\n

This year is especially exciting because we are working with St. Mary\u2019s Nutrition Center. Consumers go a couple times a month and engage in a cooking class. We really want to be able to take the produce we grow ourselves and use it in the class so the consumers get to enjoy the fruits of their labor.<\/p>\n

We were hoping volunteers would come and show us how to plant seedlings properly. We were shooting for mid-March.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
