4-H Summer of Science Seeks Teen Applicants<\/span><\/h3>\n

Make a difference in your community this summer teaching kids about engineering and science!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"teen<\/a><\/p>\n

Welcome to the 4-H Teen Teachers program. 4-H Teen Teaching is a paid summer internship for teens ages 14-19 which will give you 21st Century Skills for your future. The internship is only a few hours per week during July and August so you can combine this awesome opportunity with another summer job or internship if you choose. If you take this challenge you will learn communications, leadership, perseverance, teamwork, science, teaching skills, and meet a lot of new friends.<\/p>\n

For those teens selected for this 8-week program, you will teach a science lesson to kids in 3rd-6th grade at least once a week. We will train you (you must be available for the training on June 26-28) how to teach others and the subject matter.<\/p>\n

The 4-H program in Androscoggin & Sagadahoc Counties (a part of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension) is seeking sixteen (16) teens to be a part of this program running from\u00a0June 26\u2013August 17, 2019.<\/strong>\u00a0Open to current and non-4-H members. We will have sites in Lewiston, Auburn, Sabattus, Topsham, Bath, Lisbon and possibly other communities. You must find transportation to your assigned teaching sites. The theme for 2019 is\u00a0Energy and Ocean Literacy!<\/b><\/p>\n

To Apply to Be a Teen Teacher:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

If you are interested in applying to be a Teen Teacher, complete\u00a02019 Teen Leader Application t<\/a>he preferred way of application submission.<\/p>\n

Or fill out a paper version (Word<\/a>|PDF<\/a>\u00a0) and mail to
\nUMaine Extension Androscoggin\/Sagadahoc Counties, Attn: 4-H, 24 Main Street,\u00a0Lisbon Falls, Maine 04250, or e-mail scanned applications to\u00a0kristy.ouellette@maine.edu<\/a><\/p>\n

Make sure to ask a teacher, coach, 4-H leader, religious leader, neighbor, or any adult who can recommend you for the program and who is not a relative, to complete a reference form for you. Ask the adult to complete the\u00a0Reference Form for Teens\u00a0(Word<\/a>|\u00a0PDF<\/a>) and send it directly to the address above by email or mail.<\/p>\n

An interview will also be required for all applicants. Interviews will be scheduled after June 1, 2019.<\/p>\n
