The Membership Cards are your passes to get into the Northern Maine Agricultural Fair. Each member\u2019s card will also allow the accompaniment of <b>one<\/b> parent for free. This is the policy at the Northern Maine Fair. \u00a0All members wishing to use their 4-H card to enter the Northern Maine Agricultural Fair are encouraged to enter through the livestock gate on State Street. You may be redirected if you attempt to enter through another entrance.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><b>4-H Exhibit Hall<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>4-H Exhibits entered at the Exhibit Hall should reflect <i>on-going <\/i>work done by the member in their project area during the current 4-H year. 4-H Exhibit cards must accompany each project and Cloverbuds have their own Exhibit Card. Both sets of cards are available at any of the Aroostook County Extension offices. \u00a0Although project records are not required at fairs, they are strongly encouraged. They help to give the judges a clearer understanding of the project and your work and will also earn each member $1 for every exhibit that includes an on-going or <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/volunteers\/project-records\/\">completed project record<\/a>. 4-H members from any county in Maine may enter exhibits but should check with the UMaine Extension Aroostook County for rules that may differ from those in their county.<\/p>\n<p><b>Entry Deadlines for Northern Maine Agricultural Fair (NMAF) Exhibit Hall: \u00a0Projects must be delivered to the 4-H Exhibit Hall on Wednesday, June 26, 4:00-6:00 PM or Thursday, June 27, 12:00-2:00 PM.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Each club will be responsible for setting up their member\u2019s entries. If you have younger members maybe you could consider joining forces with another club or only taking 1\/2 a day. Youth must be 16 or older to work on the fryolater and grill, but youth ages 12-15 can make sandwiches, etc., and wait on tables. Youth 12 and under can roll silverware, set and clear tables, serve bottled soda, etc. There is something for everyone to do! \u00a0Please let the 4-H staff know if your club would like to take a day during this year\u2019s fair.<\/p>\n<p>All 4-H members who are working in the Food Booth should watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fEVCBCxo3i8\">this training video<\/a>. \u00a0You will want to start at the 7:00 minute mark unless you are in charge of the fryolater or grill.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><b>Don\u2019t forget to enter the Bartlett Farm sign contest!<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>The purpose of this sign contest is to educate the public about your animal, in a fun and creative way.<a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/aroostook\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2019\/05\/Bartlett-sign-contest.pdf\"> Click here for complete rules,<\/a> please feel free to call the office (532-6548) if you have any questions. \u00a0\u00a0Please let 4-H staff know you are participating in this contest so your sign can be judged.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Maine 4-H Horse Program Helmet Rule<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Effective January 1,2002 all youth under 19, participating in any 4-H equestrian activities, regardless of riding seat, shall wear a properly fitted equestrian helmet which carries a current ASTM\/SEI approval with secured chin harness properly fastened at all times when mounted on an equine or in a vehicle being pulled by one or more equines.<\/li>\n<li>It is the responsibility of the rider or the parent or guardian of the minor rider, to see to it that the headgear worn complies with such approved standards and carries the proper seals, and is properly fitted and in good condition. Due to degeneration concerns, equestrian and sport manufacturers recommend replacement every five years. The University of Maine system, organizing committees, and licensed officials or leaders are not responsible for checking headgear worn for such compliance. The University of Maine or said committees and officials and leaders make no representation or warranty, expressed or implied, about such headgear and cautions riders that serious injury may result despite wearing headgear, as no helmet can protect against all foreseeable injuries in equestrian activities.<\/li>\n<li>At any 4-H equestrian activity, the official activity manager (e.g. show manager, clinic organizer, club leader) may, at his\/her discretion, check a participant\u2019s equestrian helmet for proper standards. If the participant is found to be wearing an unapproved, defective or improperly fitted helmet, he\/she will NOT be permitted to participate in any mounted or driving activities until proper headgear is acquired.<\/li>\n<li>The approved helmet requirement supersedes all hat and helmet requirements as stated under appointments in the current set of rules and regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>State 4-H News<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>June, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Register Now for Maine 4-H Days <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Maine 4-H Days will take place July 19 &#8211; 21 at the Windsor Fairgrounds. These Adventure Camps are sponsored by the Department of Defense to provide quality outdoor experiences for children of Service Members in the active, reserve, or guard components. Workshops are designed for youth completing 4-H project work in the areas of sheep, swine, working steer and horse. Horseless riders are welcome. Working Steer Try Outs for The Big E are being held\u00a0Sunday\u00a0morning at 10:00.Anyone planning to attend any part of June Jamboree must pre-register and pay online due to insurance regulations. This includes participants, parents, and siblings, who will be present on the fair grounds. All youth must attend with a parent or guardian.The registration fee for the first member of a household will be $20. Family members residing at the same address may register for an additional $10 per person.\u00a0The\u00a0registration\u00a0fee includes tent\/camper space, meals, starting with with breakfast\u00a0Saturday\u00a0morning through lunch\u00a0on Sunday, and helps offset the cost of additional insurance, presenter fees and workshop supplies and materials. Check in begins\u00a0Friday\u00a0evening after\u00a05:00 P.M.Workshops will include\u00a0washing, clipping, showmanship,\u00a0animal handling, marketing and learning activities around zoonotic diseases.\u00a0Rabies vaccines and tagging for market animals will be available. It is mandatory for anyone planning to sell market lambs or market hogs at Fryeburg Fair to attend Saturday\u2019s workshops in order to have their animals tagged.This event is open to 4-H Families from all counties. Again, all adults and youth must pre-register online whether participating in workshops or not, due to insurance regulations. Registration is not complete until all forms have been returned to the Oxford County Extension Office, 9 Olson Road, South Paris ME 04281.
