Supporting Relationships for Farm Success (Recorded Webinar)

In this 90-minute training for Agricultural Service Providers, participants will consider the needs of farmers and skills related to communication, decision making, goal setting and time management. Participants will learn about a new farmer typology designed to deepen service providers’ understanding of farmers both beginning and established. Service providers will be introduced to the idea of acting as a guide rather than an expert in consultations. Members of the project team will introduce new tools and resources for service providers that are designed to assist farmers with the challenges related to interpersonal skills.

Presenters: Leslie Forstadt, PhD, Human Development Specialist, University of Maine Cooperative Extension, conducts educational programs and research about farm/family balance, communication skills, and stress reduction. She is the current project leader for the NESARE PDP. Abby Sadauckas, MFA, is a farmer at Apple Creek Farm in Maine and service provider utilizing farming experience gained through various new farmer training programs. She was the project manager for the NESARE PDP and is now the Maine Field Agent at Land for Good. Elaine Bourne, JD, Community Mediation Services/Maine Agricultural Mediation Program Director, Volunteers of America Northern New England specialized in mediation and farm transition. She was part of the project team for the NESARE PDP, assisting with facilitation, curriculum design and implementation.
