Continued Monilinia infections May 8, 2025

Mummy berry cups are still present in fields and the plants are still susceptible. There have been Monilinia infection conditions across Maine blueberry areas from Lincoln east through to Washington county. Two to three infection periods have occurred from May 4th to May 7th in all fields with reporting weather stations, and I expect the same conditions occurred across all Midcoast, and Downeast blueberry areas.

There is rain forecast from Friday May 9th evening through to Saturday May 10th night. These conditions will produce more Monilinia infection periods. The warm dry weather forecast from Sunday on will start to dry up the mummy berry cups.

If you had applied fungicides after April 28 to May 1st (10 to 7 days) then your field would have been protected during the infection periods from May 4 to 7th. If you have applied fungicide after April 30th to May 3rd (10 to 7 days), your plants should be protected during the possible infection periods this Friday and Saturday.
