Monilinia infections from May 9th to 12th, finish? of mummy berry season
There were still mummy berry cups and pinheads seen in Midcoast and Downeast fields on Thursday May 8th and Friday May 9th. With the cool wet weather over the weekend, I would expect the cups and pinheads were still present. Please take a look at your mummy berry plots to let me know when the cups start to die off. I expect the warm weather that is forecast for the next three days will finish off the mummy berry season.
There were Monilinia infection periods that occurred from May 9th through to May 11th. Please see table below.
If you had applied fungicides after April 30th then your field would have been protected during the infection periods from May 8th to the morning of May 11th. Considering the upcoming warm and dry weather, unless you have a late field, you may not need to apply fungicides again for mummy berry control. If your plants are in bloom, I recommend not applying fungicides.
