Cold temperatures early May 22nd; Forecast for possible freezing temperatures tonight

There were temperatures below 28F overnight from May 22nd midnight to 6am. Temperatures below 28F can injure or kill open flowers. What flower damage occurs to a field depends upon the blueberry plants genetics, if the plants are in dip in the ground and how cold and for how long there are cold temperatures.

Weather stations in Aurora and the barrens showed cold temperatures in some locations. The weather station in Aurora recorded temperature below 28F from 1am to 6am, with temperatures from 21F to 22F for one hour. At one weather station in the barrens the temperature was below 28F from 3am to 5am.

There is a forecast for cold temperatures tonight of temperatures about 37F but with the wind, there is a possibility of patchy frost, particularly in more northern fields in the barrens.
