Cold temperatures early morning of May 23rd
There were cold temperatures recorded again at Aurora and fields in the barrens. At the Aurora weather station, temperatures were below 28 F from 2am to 5:30am and the lowest temperature was 24 bF for 1 1/2 hours in that time period. In the barrens, temperatures were below 32 F for about two hours and may have dropped lower than that in other areas or dips in fields.
Typically temperatures below 28F can damage opened flowers. If flowers were not open (F5 or F4), they can be resistant to these and possibly colder temperatures. The good news is the temperatures at night for this week are forecast to not fall below 40F.
Correction: In the morning of May 22nd, the weather station in Hope indicated temperatures at 29 F for two hours. They may have dropped to colder temperatures in some areas.
