New Video: Weed Management in Wild Blueberry Fields
Effective weed management starts with knowing what weeds are present, where they occur, and how they grow. In this new video, University of Maine Cooperative Extension wild blueberry specialist Lily Calderwood walks growers through practical strategies for identifying, scouting, mapping, and managing weeds in wild blueberry fields.
The video covers approaches for both conventional and organic growers, including using field history and weed maps to guide management decisions. Lily also discusses how pruning, sulfur applications, and other cultural, mechanical, and chemical practices can be used throughout the production cycle. By learning to recognize weeds and understand when and where they occur, growers can develop more targeted and effective weed management strategies for their fields.
