U-Maine Extension to host National 4-H shooting sports instructor training

Bryant Pond, Maine – University of Maine 4-H Camp and Learning Center at Bryant Pond has been selected to host the 2016 National 4-H shooting sports instructor training Monday, June 6 through Friday, June 10, at 17 Conservation Lane, Bryant Pond.

The 4-H instructor training is held in only one or two locations each year and typically attracts instructors from across the country. This is the first time Maine will host the event, which is sponsored by Cabela’s.

The training, open to Level I instructors, will provide instruction in youth development, risk management and safety, and opportunities to share knowledge and ideas. On successful completion participants become certified as a Level II Instructor Trainer, and is required in order to train new instructors in their home state in one of several shooting sports disciplines such as archery, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, pistol, and others.

The $300 registration fee includes meals and lodging during the training. Financial assistance is available for Maine instructors on a first come, first served basis. Level I instructor training will also be available April 15-17 at Bryant Pond.
