Bushcraft (2 weeks) (ages 14-17)

Camper blowing on camp fire

Nestled in the forests of Mt. Christopher sits one of many remote campsites, where Bushcraft campers live and learn away from the bustle of everyday life. Wake to the sounds of nature and begin a journey learning wilderness survival skills, craft making, and Leave No Trace.

We will spend the first week at camp learning about basic wilderness survival skills. Learn wilderness cooking over an open fire as you help cook your own meals—master fire building without matches and shelter construction using natural materials. During the second week, you will depart on an expedition, focusing on using your skills in a wild place. You’ll explore the wilderness and immerse yourself in your natural surroundings throughout this program, where squirrels, deer, owls, and foxes will be your neighbors as you learn advanced animal tracking skills, foraging, and tool craft. You’ll gain self-confidence and a wide array of survival skills along this journey.

Bushcraft is the pinnacle of our Wilderness Survival Path and a gateway to becoming a Junior Maine Guide.
