Tedford Shelter

In 2007, Joel Leak teamed up with the Brunswick Costal Rotary Club, who had completed some planting at the Tedford Shelter a few years earlier. Joel asked them if they wanted to work on a gardening project there and submitted for a Master Gardener work day. The funding for starting this garden was donated from friends and family. In subsequent years, the Tedford Shelter Gardens received funding from the Master Gardener Seed Grant, the Brunswick Rotary Club, and donations from WEX, where Joel previously worked. Martha Stein, fellow Master Gardener and Director of Communications at the Tedford Shelter, started some raised beds for vegetables at the family shelter, so they’ve been able to maintain the raised beds for several years as well.
