Deep Compost Mulch Field Day at Sound Pine Farm
Join University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Sound Pine Farm for a field day to learn about deep compost mulch soil management for vegetable production systems. This event is part of a Maine Healthy Soils Program-funded project investigating nutrient movement and developing best management practices for highly amended vegetable production systems.
Participants will hear about the project, tour Sound Pine Farm’s deep compost mulch fields, and take part in a discussion of observations from the 2026 growing season with fellow farmers and Extension staff.
Agenda
5:30–5:40 p.m. – Welcome and introductions
5:40–6 p.m. – Project overview and research update
6–7 p.m. – Tour of Sound Pine Farm’s deep compost mulch system
7–7:30 p.m. – Farmer discussion: 2026 field observations and questions
Light refreshments will be made available.
This field day is free to attend, though registration is encouraged.
