Horticulture - Master Gardener Annual Fundraising Plant Sale

MG Plant Sale Image

The annual Cumberland County Master Gardener’s Plant Sale is Saturday, May 19th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Barron Center in Portland, Maine. (1145 Brighton Avenue)

All proceeds will support educational programs in your community!

It is the largest fundraiser by the Cumberland County Master Gardeners each year. The sale proceeds support the group’s seed mini-grant program for community projects.  These projects, which rely on master gardeners’ expertise and volunteer time, include large undertakings such as school and community gardens and small group or one-on-one sessions to teach individuals how to grow a backyard vegetable garden.

Available at the Plant Sale:

  • Native, pollinator, vegetable, and herb plants, as well as annuals and perennials
  • Master Gardener advice and gardening demos
  • Gently used gardening supplies and tools
  • Organic compost
  • Annual Master Gardener Calendar Raffle

University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners have received in-depth horticultural training from university educators and industry experts. In return, they volunteer time to their communities. Master Gardeners in every Maine county are a vital part of UMaine Extension’s ability to provide up-to-date, research-based information, educating the public on best practices in consumer horticulture.
