Fit Testing is important to ensure that the model and size of a selected respirator fits tightly to the user\u2019s face. Respirators MUST be worn inside a tractor cab if the product being applied requires respirator use.<\/p>\n<p><b>Here are just a few commonly used materials that require a respirator:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avipel Used as a crow repellent hopper box treatment on corn seed<\/li>\n<li>Lannate Used by many sweet corn growers<\/li>\n<li>Imidan Used by many apple producers<\/li>\n<li>Gramoxone Used by many vegetable growers<\/li>\n<li>Metam Used as a fumigant<\/li>\n<li>Surround (OMRI) Protectant in organic production<\/li>\n<li>Dipel DF (OMRI) Protectant in organic production<\/li>\n<li>Mycotrol WPO (OMRI) Protectant in organic production<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>Join the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, the Maine Labor Group on Health, and the Maine Board of Pesticides Control on <b>August 22nd to get your respirator training and fit test during Maine Farm Days in Clinton<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The fee for this testing is $10.<\/p>\n<p>Time slots for fit tests are 30 minutes long and will begin at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>(Only 4 people per time slot.)<\/p>\n<p><b>To Sign Up for your Appointment:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contact Becky Gray &lt;rebecca.gray@maine.edu or 207.781.6099&gt; to register and receive a time slot for your test. Becky will then email you the time slot confirmation and other important information.<\/li>\n<li>Complete your medical evaluation and receive a written medical determination that you are physically able to use a respirator ASAP. Medical evaluations can be done through a Primary Care Physician, or through the below on-line options.\n<ul>\n<li>If you choose to visit your PCP, fill out the questionnaire at <a href=\"blank\">this OSHA link<\/a> and take it to your appointment. You will also want to <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonconservationguild.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Physician-Approval-Form-OSHA_01_2016_FINAL1.pdf\">take this form<\/a> that explains the process and asks for the doctor\u2019s signature giving you clearance to take the Fit Test<\/li>\n<li>On-Line Medical Evaluations may be conducted with any licensed health care professional or through one of these online services. A few online options are listed here.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.respexam.com\/Default.asp\">3M Respirator Medical Evaluation<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.respclearance.com\/help\/\">OSHA Medical Evaluation for Respirator Use<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncompliance.com\/online-respirator-medical-evaluation.html\">Dawson Compliance Online Respirator Medical Evaluation\/ Clearance Test<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>At the Fit Test Appointment:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring your medical evaluation clearance form. You will not be fit tested without it.<\/li>\n<li>Bring the respirator that you use in the field. Each person should have their own respirator.<\/li>\n<li>If the respirator you use fails the fit test, you may need to retake the fit test with another size and\/or model of respirator.<\/li>\n<li>Beards cannot be worn with tight fitting facemasks.
