{"id":6563,"date":"2018-08-09T13:19:40","date_gmt":"2018-08-09T17:19:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/food-health\/?page_id=6563"},"modified":"2020-09-11T13:57:44","modified_gmt":"2020-09-11T17:57:44","slug":"whole-grain-master-mix","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/food-health\/recipes\/whole-grain-master-mix\/","title":{"rendered":"Whole Grain Master Mix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>For more homemade convenience mixes, see <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/publications\/4029e\/\">Bulletin #4029, Saving Money With Homemade Convenience Mixes<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Serves: 12 | Serving size: 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n<h3>Ingredients<\/h3>\n<p>2 cups white flour<br \/>\n2 cups whole wheat flour<br \/>\n3\u20444 cup nonfat dry milk powder (optional)<br \/>\n1\u20442 cup oats<br \/>\n1\u20442 cup cornmeal<br \/>\n3 Tablespoons baking powder<br \/>\n2 Tablespoons sugar<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt (optional)<br \/>\n1\u20442 cup vegetable oil<\/p>\n<h3>Directions<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Stir together flours, dry milk, oats, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar and salt in large mixing bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Cut in oil with pastry blender or two knives or use clean hands to blend the mixture until it looks like coarse cornmeal.<\/li>\n<li>Store in a container with a tight-fitting lid in a cool place.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>NOTE: To measure Master Mix when using it in recipes, stir first, then pile the Master Mix into a cup and level off with a knife.
