{"id":1847,"date":"2019-01-14T11:21:36","date_gmt":"2019-01-14T16:21:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/franklin\/?page_id=1847"},"modified":"2019-01-14T14:10:31","modified_gmt":"2019-01-14T19:10:31","slug":"roles-responsibilites","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/franklin\/franklin-county-extension-association\/roles-responsibilites\/","title":{"rendered":"Roles &amp; Responsibilites"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"page-title\">Franklin County Extension Association Member Roles &amp; Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Mission of the Franklin County Extension Association:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be an ambassador to the community about Cooperative Extension\u2019s programs in the Maine food systems and youth development and its role as the outreach branch of the University of Maine<\/li>\n<li>Support and advise staff regarding programming and operational work<\/li>\n<li>Formulate and help secure annual funding from the county government by working with County Commissioners and County Budget Advisory Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>UMaine Cooperative Extension Mission<\/strong>: To help Maine people improve their lives through and educational process that uses research-based knowledge focused on issues and needs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time Commitment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Election of new members and officers is held at our Annual Meeting in October of each year. New members are elected for a 3-year term unless specified otherwise<\/li>\n<li>Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month from 5:00 \u2013 6:00 p.m. with the following exceptions:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>There is no meeting in June, July, or August<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Standing and ad-hoc subcommittees meet on an as-needed basis to assess items such as the budget (finance committee) and 4-H Scholarship Committee(Annual Award)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Become familiar with the staff and programs of the Franklin County Extension Office<\/li>\n<li>Promote the educational programs and impacts of Franklin County Extension to citizens, county commissioners, legislators and other community leaders<\/li>\n<li>Attend and actively participate in scheduled monthly meetings<\/li>\n<li>Actively participate on a subcommittee<\/li>\n<li>Oversee and actively participate in the preparation and operation of the Franklin County Extension Office budget<\/li>\n<li>When possible, participate in and help evaluate current Franklin County Extension programs<\/li>\n<li>Help prioritize staffing needs by making recommendations in selecting and hiring staff<\/li>\n<li>Assist Franklin County Extension to reach diverse audiences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Commitment to helping people help themselves through an educational process<\/li>\n<li>Strong commitment to UMaine Cooperative Extension and its educational programs<\/li>\n<li>General knowledge of people\u2019s educational needs and issues in your geographic area<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work as a team member with the full committee and subcommittees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Resources Available &amp;Training Provided<em>:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An orientation is provided<\/li>\n<li>A County Executive Committee binder is provided to each member and is updated as needed<\/li>\n<li>Regular updates about new and continuing programs<\/li>\n<li>Networking with experienced committee members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Benefits of being a member:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Opportunity to participate at the local and state level as a volunteer for UMaine Cooperative Extension<\/li>\n<li>Increased awareness of the broad range of educational programs, literature and online resources available to the public through University of Maine Cooperative Extension<\/li>\n<li>Understand the educational needs of county citizens more fully<\/li>\n<li>Build upon and learn new leadership skills<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to give back to your community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Franklin County Extension Association Member Roles &amp;
