Please bring your questions and ideas! We all look forward to seeing you all at 7:00 p.m. on December 15<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Zoom information will be included in the Agenda for the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>All enrolled 4-H Volunteers are members of their county Leaders\u2019 Association. There is a new option available for families for the new 4-H Year. Starting October 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0, families will have the ability to log into their account and complete their re-enrollment, as well as all required<br \/>\nforms, online. If you were enrolled for the 2021-2022 year, you can simply visit:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/4h.zsuite.org\/\">https:\/\/4h.zsuite.org\/<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 click \u201cForgot Password?\u201d and complete the prompts using the email address you receive your 4-H communications to. If you would prefer to continue to complete paper forms, they can be found online at:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/volunteers\/forms\/\">https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/volunteers\/forms\/<\/a>\u00a0or by reaching out to your county office.<\/p>\n<p>We would ask that if 4-H members are planning to re-enroll to please do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete and sign all paperwork<\/li>\n<li>Get required signatures<\/li>\n<li>Return paperwork to the Extension Office<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you plan to try out for Eastern States, apply for national trips, apply for scholarships, and or<br \/>\ncomplete an approval form to show animals at the fair, be sure to get your re-enrollment paperwork to<br \/>\nthe Extension Office by the December 31<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0deadline. Volunteers as well are asked to fill out the enrollment<br \/>\nform, the Standards of Behavior Form, and Photo Release (if they so choose). Return all paperwork<br \/>\nto the Extension Office ASAP.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><a id=\"Checks\"><\/a>Volunteer Background Checks<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>All Maine 4-H volunteers are required to have a\u00a0background\u00a0check every three years. This includes currently enrolled volunteers and 2023 is the time for your\u00a0review.\u00a0 If you are deciding not to continue to be a volunteer please let us know and we will remove you from the list.\u00a0 This should only take a few minutes of your time to complete and when you are done please notify the\u00a0<b><u><i>office<\/i><\/u><\/b>\u00a0that you have completed the online application.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>You can submit your\u00a0background\u00a0application online, by clicking\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/client.verifiedcredentials.com\/uofmaine-orono\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/client.verifiedcredentials.com\/uofmaine-orono\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1670355601321000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2ytD55K2BwyEs-Y0FTYHXC\">here<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Thank you for taking the time to complete the background application, we appreciate your time.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong><a id=\"Tabs\"><\/a>WE WANT YOUR CAN TABS!<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Franklin County Extension Homemakers are collecting can tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House services.\u00a0 The Ronald McDonald House allows parents who are far away from home to stay close to their hospitalized child without the expense of hotel and food costs.\u00a0 The can tab program is important to the Ronald McDonald House because it provides extra revenue that can help make up for donations families cannot make.\u00a0 To house a family the cost is between $100 and $140 a night.\u00a0 That is 280 pounds of tabs!\u00a0 They only ask for $10 a night contribution but no family is turned away.\u00a0 There are two Ronald McDonald Houses located in Maine, one in Bangor and one in Portland.<\/p>\n<p>Tabs are small in size, but they have a big impact.\u00a0 Ask your family, friends, relatives, businesses, service clubs, bottle redemption centers, police stations, schools co-workers, church, etc. to save the tabs.\u00a0 This is an on-going community service that the Homemakers have under taken.<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t care what the tabs are collected in; zip lock bags, cardboard boxes, coffee cans, pill bottles, glass jars, or plastic trash bags.\u00a0 If you would like a container to collect tabs in, they are available at the Extension office.<\/p>\n<p>Donations of any size can be left at the Franklin County Extension Office.<\/p>\n<p>Please help us collect as many tabs as possible for this worthy cause.\u00a0 Together we can make an impact on the lives of many.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><a id=\"State 4-H News\"><\/a>State News<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><a id=\"OPEN\"><\/a>4-H Youth Summit Applications are Now Open!<\/strong><br \/>\nApplications for the 4-H Youth Summit are now open.\u00a0 The link is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSeaORsI2U_ca6RTvb60iu8oIrvgKiwTqOgES3NJaUqvz1Alkg\/viewform\">here<\/a>!<br \/>\nApplications are due by December\u00a018th.<br \/>\nThis year there is\u00a0<strong>ONLY ONE LARGE<\/strong> 4-H Summit.\u00a0 It will combine tracks in Agri-science,<br \/>\nHealthy\u00a0living, and STEM.\u00a0 The Maine 4-H Foundation has once again helped us to fund teams of<br \/>\nyouth for both Agri-Science and Healthy Living\u00a0by providing scholarship\u00a0funds for youth who are<br \/>\nselected.<br \/>\nIgnite by 4-H\u00a0&#8211; the 2023 National 4-H Youth Summit to be held in the Washington, DC area,<br \/>\nMarch 9-12, 2023.<br \/>\nHigh school-aged youth are immersed in an agenda focused on agriscience, healthy living, or<br \/>\nSTEM. Sessions will be offered within these respective tracks to demonstrate why and how these<br \/>\ntopics are important and how young people can become changemakers. This is a<br \/>\nspace for youth to come together and build relationships with their peers. We will share interests,<br \/>\nprojects, goals, and plans for the year and then reflect on our learning throughout and at the end<br \/>\nof the year. This is also a great place to start if you are a new or recently enrolled independent<br \/>\nmember. We will meet 3 times throughout the year as a group with county staff. This will be a<br \/>\nspace for youth to foster friendships with peers and possibly come together to work on projects of<br \/>\nsimilar interests. We are even hoping to get the group to brainstorm common interests and work<br \/>\ntogether on a community service project! Somerset and Aroostook counties are both holding<br \/>\nmeetings in December.<\/p>\n<p>Register <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/youth\/independent-member-club\/\">here<\/a>! Sharing food with family and friends is a big part of this time of<br \/>\nyear, and many of us have traditions that include special recipes and treats. While many often<br \/>\nthink of special holiday foods, how many of us think of special holiday drinks?
