Please bring your questions and ideas! We all look forward to seeing you all at 7:00 p.m. on July 20.<\/p>\n<p>All enrolled 4-H Volunteers are members of their county Leaders\u2019 Association. I am reaching out on behalf of Maine Mountain Children&#8217;s House, we are an early childhood montessori school in Kingfield, Maine. We are planning our Annual Harvest Festival, our biggest scholarship fundraiser of the year (for more information here is a link to the website,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mainemountainchildrenshouse.org\/harvest-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.mainemountainchildrenshouse.org\/harvest-festival&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1689344117442000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2LFLb9dO9WsRVjcHsNiSm3\">https:\/\/www.mainemountainchildrenshouse.org\/harvest-festival<\/a>\u00a0) It will be held on September 30th from 3:00-7:00 at Mountain Village Farm Bed and Breakfast in Kingfield, Maine.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">We are wondering if there are any 4-H children or families who might be interested in bringing an animal to contribute to the festival; we are coordinating a petting zoo, as well as various educational\u00a0exhibits about animal products or rearing. Specifically, we are looking for a sheep; we have a person who spins wool and are hoping to have a felting project for children and families; or, a goat and goat milk products could be wonderful too! <b>If there are any other ideas, we are open to suggestions and contributions of anyone interested in participating in the event.<\/b><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Please let us know if you have any questions, or have any interested families. Workshop space is<br \/>\nlimited, so register soon to secure your spot.\u00a0 For a complete schedule or to register for the event<br \/>\nplease visit\u00a0extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/maine-4h-days\/.<br \/>\nTo request a reasonable accommodation please contact the Kennebec County Cooperative<br \/>\nExtension office at 207.622.7546 or email\u00a0alisha.r.targonski@maine.edu.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Registration is Open Through July 31 st for New 4-H Teen Leadership Program: YOUth Have<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>a Voice!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>YOUth have a Voice!: Youth in Governance and Civic Engagement is a nine-month program open<br \/>\nto teens and recent high school graduates who are interested in taking a more active role in<br \/>\nserving their local communities, the state, or the country.\u00a0 Youth will learn leadership skills and<br \/>\nways to participate in civic action by completing a service project in a topic of their interest.\u00a0 Youth projects will be in one of three categories:<br \/>\n1.) \u00a0 Youth Board Member: Join a board or advisory council as a youth representative<br \/>\n2.) \u00a0 Policy Leader: Provide input to a policy or rule being developed<br \/>\n3.) \u00a0 Public Service Leader: Carry out a community service project.<br \/>\nTeens will be mentored by adults to assist their learning of civic processes and ways to meet their project goals.\u00a0 The program will be from late August 2023 to May 2024 and the total time<br \/>\ncommitment may vary from 30 to 80 hours depending on the type of project.<br \/>\nThe program will be open for teens ages 14+ years old or entering high school in the fall of 2023.<br \/>\nInterested teens will need the following items to register for the program:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Fill out the application form.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Two letters of recommendation from adults who are not related to the applicant<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Briefly describing (100 to 500 words) why you are interested in this program<\/li>\n<li>A signed Program Requirement Summary Form<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Registration is open through July 31, 2023.\u00a0 The program will be limited to 16 youth.<br \/>\nTo register or learn more, visit our website.
