The 80 x 80 public garden was established in 2019 by the Rockland District Nursing Association to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Community Nursing in Rockland. Funded completely by community donations, corporate sponsorship and in-kind donations, the garden is meant to be a place of joy and beauty and reflection. Named after the first, and long-time, Community Nurse, Eliza Steele, the ESM Garden is open to the public. Master Gardener Volunteer opportunities will include planting, weeding, pruning, soil testing and amending, dividing, identifying and marking plants, hardscaping, and maintaining the ADA compliant paths and educational programs. We?d like to form a committee to discuss and plan garden maintenance and planting schedules. We strive for all volunteers and the public to feel welcome, for the garden to be inclusive and accessible, and a place where one can feel peace and joy.
