The Loaves and Fishes Pantry Garden consists of eight raised vegetable garden beds, built to be accessible for volunteers as well as Pantry visitors and a perennial garden to support pollinators. The vegetable harvest is distributed on site to pantry clients, steps away from where it is grown. This presents an extraordinary opportunity to build food and gardening literacy with Pantry clients. Plans to coordinate with the Food Pantry to help Community members grow their own food in additional beds. Ellsworth Adult Education will provide educational workshops in collaboration with MGV’s who may help mentor clients to grow a small plot of their own.
