Maine Coastal Regional Re-entry Center Garden (MCRRC)
Address: Swanville, Maine
Since 2009 the MCRRC Garden has grown and donated upwards of 400,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables throughout Waldo County. The 11+ acre garden is located in Swanville, ME (at the Emergency Management Office) and is maintained by residents of the Maine Coastal Re-entry Center with support from Waldo County Sheriff’s department staff. All of the produce grown is donated to support food access in Waldo County while also providing an opportunity for Re-entry residents to give back to the community and learn valuable skills. This year the program will host Master Gardener Volunteer work days, this is a unique opportunity to support an incredible community program, help boost access to nutritious healthy produce and to get to know other volunteers in the area. Schedule for work days is still in development but should be on a regular weekly basis starting in May. Contact Viña for more details.
