We also recommend considering\u00a0shrubs if you are seeking year-round privacy, as they will more reliably hold up through the winter.<\/p>\n<p>For grasses,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/gardening\/2021\/04\/21\/perennial-grass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/gardening\/2021\/04\/21\/perennial-grass\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662726271927000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3NzJozrylzwouv1Rqf5pj1\">per UMaine horticulturist Pamela Hargest<\/a>, you might use\u00a0<i>Sorghastrum nutans<\/i>\u00a0(Indian grass), cultivars of\u00a0<i>Panicum virgatum<\/i>\u00a0(Switch grass), and cultivars of\u00a0<i>Miscanthus sinensus<\/i>\u00a0(Chinese silver grass). The first two are natives to our area and can hold shape into the winter, depending on snow cover.
