Holland, Horticulture and Social Media Professional <\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Which low-blooming flowers will work for you depends a little on where you are located.<\/p>\n<p>If you are in Zone 4 (the colder part of the state) then you probably won&#8217;t have to mow until mid to late May.\u00a0 Any bulb listed in the catalog as early spring\u00a0 and &#8220;naturalizing&#8221; will work for you and some that are also low growing include:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/plantfacts.osu.edu\/tmi\/Plantlist\/muscari.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/plantfacts.osu.edu\/tmi\/Plantlist\/muscari.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1683740069047000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0ar-PPpLjPagQxyBOVsoHG\">Muscari (<\/a><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">grape hyacinth), Crocus and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umn.edu\/identify-invasive-species\/squill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/extension.umn.edu\/identify-invasive-species\/squill&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1683740069047000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0KrUNvrdDQLj_9o61jJ9WI\">Siberian Squill<\/a><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">.\u00a0 All of these should be past bloom and their\u00a0<\/span>strap like<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">\u00a0foliage should be lower\u00a0than 4&#8243; under strict control then encourage the wildflower but don&#8217;t let the dandelions\u00a0or violets form clumps.\u00a0 Clover is a great addition to any lawn from a pollinator&#8217;s point of view but you will need to mow high all summer so the flowers can form.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail_default\">I have attached a picture of my backyard in mid-May last year.\u00a0 We mow the front and side and let the flowers bloom in back.\u00a0 I am in zone 5.
