Established in 2004, the arboretum is an outdoor classroom for the study of native tree and shrub species best suited for managed landscapes. This unique collection of native woody plants is located on the grounds of the Penobscot County Cooperative Extension Office at 307 Maine Avenue in Bangor. We are looking for volunteers to prune the trees and shrubs (guidance will be provided), remove and replace unhealthy plant material, develop a new map, reestablish mulch rings, pull weeds, and maintain the existing herbaceous native plant garden along the front of the building. Work session timing can be based on the availability of the volunteers.<\/p>\n
