Registration starts at 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The field day will focus on research results and sustainable farming practices of small grains, potatoes, vegetable weed control, and risk management for small production farmers. Speakers include research staff and graduate students from UMaine College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture and UMaine Extension specialists.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free; 2.5 Certified Crop Adviser credits and one Pesticide credit will be offered. RSVP at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/malt-field-day-tickets-26292833573\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eventbrite Page<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/297560987249553\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook Page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For more details and workshop schedule, see <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/grains-oilseeds\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2016\/06\/Brewers-Field-Day-2016-Schedule-And-Information-1.pdf\">Brewers Field Day 2016 Schedule and Information (PDF)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3><a name=\"article3\"><\/a>Acreage Report Deadline Approaching for Spring-Seeded Crops<\/h3>\n<p>Farmers with crop insurance on a spring-seeded crop (i.e. potatoes, small grains, corn etc.) must submit acreage reports to their crop insurance agent by <strong>July 15, 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The acreage report is the basis for determining the amount of insurance provided and the premium charged.<\/p>\n<p>The acreage report includes the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>crops you have planted,<\/li>\n<li>acreage prevented from planting,<\/li>\n<li>what share you have in those crops,<\/li>\n<li>where the crops are located,<\/li>\n<li>how many acres you planted,<\/li>\n<li>the dates you planted them,<\/li>\n<li>what insurance unit they are located on, and<\/li>\n<li>the cultural practice followed (i.e., irrigated, double cropped, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Be sure reports are accurate and submitted on time! By reporting too much acreage, you may pay too much premium. If you report too little acreage, you may recover less when you file&nbsp;a&nbsp;claim.
