We need your help to uncover and piece together a buried artifact. In this workshop, youth will learn about the tools and methods archaeologists use in the field to discover ancient artifacts from around the world. Through an interactive charades game, youth explore different forms of animal communication (visual, auditory, chemical, tactile) and learn the importance of clear and effective communication in the animal (and human!) world.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a id=\"archery\"><\/a>Archery<br \/>\n<\/strong><span data-sheets-root=\"1\"><em>Session 1 (9:15 &#8211; 10:30 am), Session 2 (10:45 &#8211; 12:00 pm)<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><span data-sheets-root=\"1\"><em>Presenters: Norwood Ames &amp; Frank Butler, 4-H Club Leaders of the Lock, Stock, and Barrel 4-H Club<br \/>\nAges: 9-18, Maximum 10 Youth<\/em><br \/>\n<\/span><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">This introductory workshop will teach basic archery techniques and safety. Our events are top secret, but be ready for any task a farmer may need to accomplish!<\/p>\n<p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\"><strong><a id=\"firstaid\"><\/a>Basic First Aid<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Session 4 (10:45 &#8211; 12:00 pm) <\/em><br \/>\n<em>Presenter: Dianna Donahue Grindle and Debra Donahue, 4-H Volunteer and Retired Trauma Nurse<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Any Age, Maximum 15 Youth<\/em><br \/>\nIt&#8217;s always good to practice your basic first aid skills for around the home and barn. In this workshop, youth will learn which common items they can use when they don&#8217;t have a first-aid kit handy. Participants will be able to customize their book with different types of paper and decorate their book covers. To earn your exit, you must prove your &#8216;Head, Heart, Hands, and Health&#8217; by solving a series of skill-based challenges. The clock is ticking, the lights are flickering, and the Midway is calling\u2014can you &#8216;Make the Best Better&#8217; and find your way out?<\/p>\n<p><strong><a id=\"poultry\"><\/a>Exploring Poultry with 4-H<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Session 4 (2:00 &#8211; 2:50 pm)<br \/>\nPresenter: Sadee Mehuren, 4-H Staff<br \/>\nAny Age, Maximum 15 Youth<\/em><br \/>\nJoin us for a hands-on 4-H Poultry Workshop where youth will learn the basics of poultry housing and daily care in a fun and creative way! Participants will explore what chickens and other poultry need to stay healthy, safe, and productive. Using LEGOs, youth will design and build their ideal poultry environment while applying what they learn about proper poultry management. Perfect for beginners and experienced 4-H members alike, this workshop will help participants better understand how to create a safe and comfortable home for poultry.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a id=\"farm\"><\/a>Farm Fresh Prints<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Session 4 (2:00 &#8211; 2:50 pm)<br \/>\nPresenter: <span data-sheets-root=\"1\">Carla Scocchi, 4-H Staff<\/span><br \/>\nAges: 5-8, Maximum 10 Youth<\/em><br \/>\nTurn fruits and vegetables into art! In this fun workshop, youth will use cut fruits and veggies as natural stamps to create colorful printed projects like kitchen towels or decorative flags to take home. Apples, pears, celery, peppers, carrots, and more can make surprising patterns and beautiful designs when paired with fabric paint and a little creativity. As we create, we\u2019ll also explore different types of fruits and vegetables, noticing their shapes, textures, seeds, and patterns, and learning a little about how food grows. Participants will discover how everyday produce can become a unique art tool while exploring color, pattern, printmaking, and nature-based creativity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a id=\"caterpillar\"><\/a>Fuzzy Caterpillar Friends<\/strong><br \/>\n<span data-sheets-root=\"1\"><em>Session 1 (9:15 &#8211; 10:30 am)<br \/>\nPresenter: Carla Scocchi, 4-H Staff<br \/>\nAges: 5-18, Maximum 15 youth<\/em><\/span><span data-sheets-root=\"1\"><br \/>\nGet ready for a colorful felting adventure! In this hands-on workshop, youth will create their very own soft and squishy caterpillar friend using bright wool, warm water, and a little bit of soap. We\u2019ll explore the magic of wet felting as we roll, shape, and transform fluffy wool into cheerful caterpillars full of personality. Perfect for younger youth and beginners, this workshop builds fine motor skills, creativity, and confidence &#8211; plus everyone gets to take home their new fuzzy friend! After the story, youth will have a chance to make their own Mossy by going on a nature walk to collect items from their own journey through the fairgrounds!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a id=\"felting\"><\/a>Needle Felting Studio<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Session 3 (1:00 &#8211; 1:50 pm)<br \/>\nPresenter: Carla Scocchi, 4-H Staff<br \/>\nAny Age, Maximum 10 Youth<\/em><br \/>\nDiscover the art of needle felting and turn soft wool into something amazing! In this hands-on workshop, youth will learn the basics of sculpting with wool using special felting needles to create small 3D projects or try \u201cpainting with wool\u201d by using colorful fibers to create flat felted artwork and pictures. We\u2019ll have several beginner-friendly project ideas to choose from, or participants can bring their own creative ideas to life. This workshop encourages patience, creativity, and imagination while building fine motor skills and confidence. Great for beginners and experienced crafters alike!
