European Chafer

The European ChaferAmphimallon majalis (Razoumowsky)–is a serious pest of lawns and turf of all kinds, but it is also a pest of many vegetables, fruits, field crops, and nursery and ornamental plants.  The damaging stage is the larval/grub stage, and the somewhat white, C-shaped grubs are part of an entire group of related genera that are collectively referred to as white grubs,” and these are very destructive to lawns/turf in particular.  In turf, the treatment threshold for the European Chafer is considered to be five to eight grubs per square foot.
