You can link to the quarantine rule from the Maine Forest Service&#8217;s page: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/dacf\/mfs\/forest_health\/invasive_threats\/eab\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.maine.gov\/dacf\/mfs\/forest_health\/invasive_threats\/eab\/index.shtml<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EAB was also confirmed in Vermont in February of 2018 so it has now been found in at least 33 states. It is present in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and was confirmed in Quebec City during the summer of 2017 as a result of routine surveys there.\u00a0 Larvae feed just under the bark of ash trees, causing girdling severe enough to eventually kill the trees!\u00a0 Since its discovery in the United States in 2002, this beetle has killed millions of ash trees.\u00a0 As part of the prevention efforts in Maine, the Maine Forest Service reminds people not to transport firewood (more information about that can be found in the firewood link below).<\/p>\n<p>Many Maine landowners and volunteers have peeled sections of ash trees <span class=\"ILfuVd\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hgKElc\">(<i>Fraxinus<\/i> spp)<\/span><\/span> to serve as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/dacf\/mfs\/forest_health\/invasive_threats\/eab_trap_trees.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>trap trees<\/strong><\/a> in helping with early detection of EAB.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/dacf\/mfs\/forest_health\/invasive_threats\/purpletraps.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Purple traps<\/strong><\/a> have often been deployed as well throughout Maine to help detect any early populations of emerald ash borer that might be present.\u00a0 <strong>Note:<\/strong> <span class=\"ILfuVd\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hgKElc\"><strong>Mountain-ash and prickly-ash trees are not <em>true<\/em> ash species and so are not susceptible or attractive to Emerald Ash borers.<\/strong> Mountain ash belongs to the rose family (Rosaceae) and prickly-ash belongs to the rue\/citrus family (Rutaceae). True ash trees are part of the olive family (<span role=\"tooltip\"><span class=\"c5aZPb\" role=\"button\" data-enable-toggle-animation=\"true\" data-extra-container-classes=\"ZLo7Eb\" data-hover-hide-delay=\"1000\" data-hover-open-delay=\"500\" data-send-open-event=\"true\" data-theme=\"0\" data-width=\"250\" data-ved=\"2ahUKEwjW3OCwmKOBAxUVGFkFHeKDCWcQmpgGegQICxAD\"><span
