Leek moth as of 2019 has also spread to the Rangeley, Maine area and is expected to continue its spread in Maine. The larvae of this moth are destructive to all members of the Allium plant family, but especially to leeks.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/bugguide.net\/node\/view\/1016519\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Spotted Lanternfly<\/strong><\/a> (SLF for short) (BugGuide.net) This pest is not a fly or a moth, but rather a type of Homopteran commonly called a <strong>planthopper<\/strong>. It is native to China, India, Taiwan and Vietnam. Its first introduction into the U.S. was in 2014 in Pennsylvania but it may have been present there for a few years prior to that; it was <em>officially<\/em> confirmed in Berks County, PA in 2014.
