{"id":1067,"date":"2016-05-10T14:00:51","date_gmt":"2016-05-10T18:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/kennebec\/?page_id=1067"},"modified":"2016-05-10T14:00:51","modified_gmt":"2016-05-10T18:00:51","slug":"things-to-bring","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/kennebec\/programs\/4-h-horsemanship-camp\/things-to-bring\/","title":{"rendered":"Things to Bring to Horsemanship Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Please review carefully!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Horse<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Halter and 2 lead ropes (longe line &#8212; optional &#8212; may need for exercise)<\/li>\n<li>Bridle(s) and saddle(s), saddle blankets<\/li>\n<li>Cleaning equipment: saddle soap, rags, old toothbrush, Lexol oil, Lysol spray* (*Please use this to disinfect stall before bedding it down and putting your horse in.)<\/li>\n<li>Feed (hay and grain) &#8212; grain<strong> must<\/strong> be in tightly closed container (Ziploc bags must be inside tightly enclosed containers.)<\/li>\n<li>Pails for water and grain<\/li>\n<li>Fly spray<\/li>\n<li>Manure fork\/shovel to clean stalls<\/li>\n<li>Wheelbarrow or basket for manure<\/li>\n<li>Hammer and nails<\/li>\n<li>A bag of shavings or bedding from the barn<\/li>\n<li>Salt blocks or salt to add to grain (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Record of shots for current year<\/li>\n<li>Bamboo or spring type rake for cleaning stalls<\/li>\n<li>Screw eyes and double-ended snaps for grain and water buckets<\/li>\n<li>All showmanship materials (halter, leads, etc.) Bring what you have, don\u2019t worry about expensive showy equipment<\/li>\n<li>Banding &amp; braiding supplies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Rider<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cot, inflatable mattress, reclining lawn chair or something to sleep on or some type of ground cover. We will be sleeping in the enclosed building on a wooden floor.<\/li>\n<li>Sleeping bag and pillow<\/li>\n<li>Flashlight<\/li>\n<li>Clothes &#8212; Be sure to bring clothes for all types of weather such as: rain coats, rubber boats, a warm coat for at night, sleepwear, extra pairs of pants in case of a tear or wet clothes.<\/li>\n<li>Boots or hard shoes with 1\/2 or 1 inch heels for riding<\/li>\n<li>Shoes to be worn when not riding (no open toe)<\/li>\n<li>Bug Spray<\/li>\n<li>Towels, soap, toothpaste, deodorant<\/li>\n<li>ASTM certified hard hat &#8212; required for <strong>all <\/strong>riders<\/li>\n<li>Band-Aids<\/li>\n<li>Ice packs<\/li>\n<li>Sunscreen<\/li>\n<li>Non breakable drink container with your name on it<\/li>\n<li><strong>BAG LUNCH FOR FRIDAY (if needed)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CLUB<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plenty of VOLT trained chaperones<\/li>\n<li>Basic equine first aid kit<\/li>\n<li>Saw, Cordless Drill for stall tags<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4-H FAMILY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remember to bring the item you checked off on the <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/kennebec\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2016\/05\/food-donation.pdf\">food item list (PDF)<\/a>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please review carefully!
