Cost: $20

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Knox-Lincoln Farm Bureau, Union Farm Equipment, and Farm Family Insurance will conduct a tractor safety course beginning Wednesday, April 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Union Farm Equipment on Route 17. The registration deadline is March 25.

Classes will continue on successive Wednesdays through April 29. A written exam and tractor-driving test will be held Saturday, May 2 at 9:00 AM. The cost is $20. Student financial assistance is available for students 18 and under, based on need.

The classes are designed for adults and youth at least 14 years of age, and are required for 14- and 15-year-olds who plan to operate farm equipment for hire on farms other than their own. Those who successfully complete the written and road tests will be issued a Federal Certificate of Training.
