Topics are associated with animal health and risk management, and all relate to ongoing projects at the University of Maine.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rachel White will share information about snails on pastures, and the risks and benefits of using pasture management tools to mitigate those risks.<\/li>\n<li>In a related study, Denise Cole will talk about her study of risk factors for, and farmer awareness of microplastics on farms.<\/li>\n<li>Kianna Dean will discuss her investigation of swine health risk factors, including parasite risks; her follow-up study will continue this spring.<\/li>\n<li>Morgan Belvin will share findings from\u00a0year 1 of her 2-year Honors capstone study of risk factors for <em>Staphylococcus aureus mastitis<\/em> in Maine dairy herds (due to illness, her talk is narrated by Dr. Lichtenwalner).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each talk has some practical take-aways for the farming community, and those interested in One Health\/public health issues in Maine.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a id=\"maine-grazing-behavior-lab-update\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/about\/staff-directory\/colt-knight\/\"><strong>Colt Knight<\/strong><\/a>, <em>Assistant Extension Professor, and State Livestock Specialist <\/em>gave a presentation at the 2022 Maine Agriculture Trades Show: Maine Grazing Behavior Lab Update.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><strong><a id=\"pastured-turkey-study\"><\/a>University of Maine Cooperative Extension 2021 Pastured Turkey Study<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Graduate Student Investigator:<\/strong> Madison Philbrick, B.S. Animal Science, Master Student Candidate, Animal Science, University of Maine<\/li>\n<li><strong>Advisor:<\/strong> Dr. Colt Knight, Mentor, Ph.D. Animal Science, State Livestock Specialist, University of Maine Cooperative Extension<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This video covers a recent turkey pasture study completed at the University of Maine.
