\"two<\/strong>T<\/b>he Maine Animal Health Fund<\/strong>, the University of Maine School of Food and Agriculture<\/strong> and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension <\/strong>are happy to announce The Maine Wine and Equine event, a two-day social event and workshop geared to horse owners and families designed to explore the fascinating world of equine anatomy, biomechanics, the future of technology in the horse industry, and hands-on workshops, along with a wine tasting social and a Maine lobster!<\/p>\n

Anyone interested in learning more about how horses function, future sensor technology that will lead to virtual fencing and early health detection, as well as, GPS tracking, saddle fitting, and those wanting to interact with global experts in the Equine Industry.<\/p>\n

$85 per person<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Children are welcome with parental supervision. Children 16 years old and younger, free admission with paid parent registration.<\/p>\n

Join Dr. Maren Bohleber<\/strong><\/a>, More-Pferdetherapie (Mobilit\u00e4ts & Rehatherapie<\/a>), all the way from Germany to learn about equine anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and proper saddle fitting.<\/p>\n

In addition, we will be joined by Dr. Colt W. Knight<\/strong><\/a>, Associate Extension Professor and State Livestock Specialist for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, to discuss the future of sensor technology for horses.<\/p>\n

Event Coordinator, Dr. Robert Causey<\/strong><\/a>, Associate Professor of Animal and Veterinary Sciences and Director of the School of Food and Agriculture at the University of Maine, will be there to answer questions about equine reproduction, infectious diseases, anatomy, biomechanics, and the economic sustainability of equine farms in Maine.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Dr. Maren Bohleber<\/strong> is a neurobiologist by training but turned her passion for horses into her profession: She has specialized in equine physiotherapy, osteopathy, and behavioral studies and is an expert in the field of equestrian saddles and saddle fitting. Maren lives with her husband, two kids, and her horse in the heart of the Austrian Alps, where she has a private practice as an equine therapist and saddle fitter. Always eager to share her knowledge and experience, she regularly holds workshops and clinics in Austria and abroad.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

8:50 \u2013 9:00 a.m.:<\/strong> Drive to the University of Maine J. F. Witter Teaching and Research Center<\/a> located at 160 Witter Farm Rd, Old Town, Maine 04468. Please park in the upper lot. We will gather just down the hill at the Chute Center, a green metal building.<\/p>\n

9:00 \u2013 10:50 a.m.:<\/strong> Hands-on workshop including the Painted Horse, Palpating Important Skeletal Structures, Saddle Fitting, and Accessing Equine Locomotion<\/p>\n

11:00 a.m. \u2013 Noon:<\/strong> Maine Lobster Lunch!<\/p>\n

12:30 p.m.:<\/strong> Closing Remarks and Adjourn to enjoy Central Maine in the Summer time. Central Maine sports amazing fishing, beautiful hiking, thousands of miles of rivers and streams to explore, lakes, ponds, theatre, coastline, art, casinos, and horse racing tracks.<\/p>\n
