SUMMARY:Community Farm Stand and Open House
DESCRIPTION:UMaine Cooperative Extension’s Rogers Farm Demonstration Garden will host its weekly Community Farm Stand and Open House on Tuesdays\, July 7 through Sept. 22\, 2026\, from 4:30–6:30 p.m. at 914 Bennoch Road in Old Town. The donation-based stand is free and open to the public. \nThe farm stand is designed to increase community access to locally grown food. Visitors can browse seasonal produce\, learn about new and unfamiliar vegetables\, and pick up recipes to try at home. Each week may also feature pizza tastings and other samples highlighting local foods\, giving neighbors a chance to gather in a relaxed\, community-centered setting. UMaine Extension staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer gardening questions. \nThe farm stand is donation-based and open to all. No registration is required. SUMMARY:Storytime in the Garden
DESCRIPTION:UMaine Cooperative Extension and the Old Town Public Library will co-host a free Storytime in the Garden series at the Rogers Farm Demonstration Garden\, 914 Bennoch Road in Old Town\, on five dates this season: June 26\, July 24\, Aug. 28\, Sept. 18 and Oct. 30\, 2026\, from 10:30–11:30 a.m. \nThe program is geared toward preschool-age children\, though older children are welcome to attend. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket and a stuffed animal for storytime\, after which children can explore the demonstration gardens. The event is free and takes place at the Rogers Farm Demonstration Garden\, which has been a community hub for gardening education since 1994. The sessions offer a relaxed opportunity for children to engage with the natural world through stories and hands-on exploration of the garden. \nNo registration is required. SUMMARY:Boiling Water Bath Canning - Waldoboro
DESCRIPTION:Ever wonder how to best preserve all those fresh summer vegetables? This hands-on food preservation workshop taught by UMaine Extension volunteers and staff will teach you the basic steps for boiling water bath canning\, according to the latest safety recommendations from USDA. \nParticipants will receive a Preserving the Harvest food preservation packet\, a headspace measuring tool\, and will bring home a jar of what we make.
